Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - F class with miles... access to Board Room?

Looked through the threads but couldn't find an answer to my question...

We just booked Alaska Air with AA miles, in F class... from LAX to YVR, the end of September. Read the Board Room rules and it says if ticketed in F class (in either F or A class) you have access to the Board Room. Bottom line... do we have access to the Board Room at LAX?

Also, Seat Guru indicates row 1 has less legroom, so we chose row 2 AC. F class is wide open so we can still change our seats if row 1 is better.

Thanks for the help.

If you are booked in "U", which most mileage tickets/free upgrades are, then you don't have access :/

Award first class tickets book into A class so you should have access to the boardroom.

It's highly debatable as to the best seat in FC, row 2 is certainly the most popular for it hosts more leg room than row 1 and generally don't need to worry about the food options running out.

Yes, if booked fully with miles and not an upgrade, your ticket will be booked in A class and thus include Board Room access.

I find row 1 legroom restrictive due to the bulkhead.

It's an easy mistake to make. Especially since all the airlines have slightly differing booking codes.

Thanks so much... great to be able to use the Board Room.

For international flights it says be there 2 hrs. ahead. Does Alaska have an F class check-in counter? If it does, can I fudge the 2 hrs. a bit. Thanks again.

Yup, I was able to use the boardroom in SEA today on an AS awards ticket (CX J).

There is a dedicated F/MVP check-in set-up on the far right side of the "Airport Of The Future" check-in area. I've never seen a line there (although I don't usually originate in SEA, so I have limited experience checking in there).

I think they do need to verify your passport information when checking in for an international flight, but I personally wouldn't aim to be there a full two hours early.

And definitely avoid row 1--the bulkhead severely restricts both leg room (no cut-outs at the bottom of the bulkhead like some other carriers) and convenience (you can't have any of your personal belongings at your feet, which means that you'll need to wait until the seat belt sign is turned off before getting up to retrieve them from the overhead). Row 2 is fine.

On the other hand, I prefer row 1 because the bulkhead wall is not going to recline back into your environs. I haven't found that my legroom is restricted (but I'm not 6'-3", either). Not being able to retrieve your personal belonging from the overhead bin when the 10,000-ft chime goes off can be a setback, however, before departure I simply ask the F FA if I can get up and retireve my laptop at 10,000 ft (if it appears the weather will permit it) and haven't been turned down yet. Or I will ask him or her to get it. They are happy to oblige.

If you don't mind sitting for several hours in a regular sitting position (knees bent and feet placed flat on the floor), it's fine. But I like to stretch my legs out straight, even sometimes resting them on my backpack to (loosely) simulate a footrest. I can't do that in row 1, and I'm too tall to comfortably do the taboo-on-FT act of resting my feet on the bulkhead wall.

I'm about 6' even.
