Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Help for a friend in Taiwan

Good pal of mine now lives in Taiwan. Been working for us in Europe last two years.He has 54000 miles expiring in Jan 2013. Without spending hours sifting the website of CX and AM can I ask for anyone with good knowledge of SE Asia what can he get for a biz class redemption round trip on his miles. He like me will not be using them anymore as our company have now passed a policy to say that from Sept 1 we are no longer allowed to fly CX due to amount the company has spent this year on extra costs due to too many flights being cancelled or delayed. There is me thinking it was just me who was having a bad run. The FD has drawn up a cost on the last 15 months and its not pretty reading.

One good thing our travel agent was duly informed and he advised CX and they are sending someone from HKG to see him next week in London. Not that they will get much out of our FD now he has made his mind up, a true Yorkshire man if I ever saw one.

Anyway appreciate any ideas you boys and girls might have. He can travel anytime really and would like to see what he can get for his miles.

According to https://www.asiamiles.com/am/zh/redeem/charts, anywhere within B zone is possible. Since Taiwan to HKG is about 500 mi (depending on the point of departure), this translates to pretty much anywhere within 2000 mi from HKG. Alternatively, redemption on JL, CA, and MU are also possible. http://gc.kls2.com/ can calculate the mileage between cities quickly, though sometimes with minor difference compared to how CX calculates it.

On the Cathay pacific search engine you can search by number of mile you wish to redeem. It'll show you a list of cities one way or roundtrip you'r eligible for depending on the depature city you enter. This is probably the easiest way to find a list of places you can make a redemption to.
