Avianca/Taca LifeMiles - Crediting TACA flights to other *A carriers
Does anyone know how to put a Turkish Airlines frequent flyer number into a TACA reservation? Can I do it online? Over the phone? Do I have to wait until I get to the counter? Do I need a LifeMiles account?
I recently matched to Turkish Elite (*gold) and want those benefits to attach to an upcoming TACA trip (LAX-Lima, Thanks!). I would also like to accrue miles with Turkish Airlines, to maintain status (assuming that they will give at least 50% credit for a cheap TACA flight).
If there is no way to attach my *gold status to the ticket, will I be allowed entry into a *gold lounge without my Turkish Elite card? (i.e. can the LD look up my status?)
Thank you all.
I just call TACA a week ago and they couldn't enter my Aegean Miles&Bonus account. My suggestion is show your card at check-in counter.

Hopefully the card has a *A logo @:-)
About ten years ago shortly after CO joined SkyTeam I flew SCL-EZE on AF and presented my CO card with SkyTeam credentials, and the person at the counter asked why I was showing them the card
As you might guess, miles never posted.
EmailKid, hoping you have better luck
Thanks. I'll roll the dice at check-in. I don't have the membership card yet, but it looks like the *gold logo is on there from the picture on Turkish's website.
Flight's not for a few months, so maybe I'll let the TACA and *Alliance simmer a little and give a call and see if they can't attach it to the reservation before check-in.
I'll report back with success or failure. Flights are in mid-October.

I'm about to book flights on Avianca and Taca in September. Hopefully I can attach UA mileageplus number over the phone. The ~7K miles will hopefully post.
I ended up not making it to South America because of work, but I have been crediting flights to Turkish Airlines and using my Star Gold status. United didn't credit one flight to Turkish, so save your boarding passes. Star Gold status has been working no problem in getting me to the front of lines and into lounges.
I booked the TACA LAX-LIM deal earlier this year before TA joined *A, and since I didn't know it was about to happen, I entered my LifeMiles number. Last month, when checking in online for the outbound, I replaced the LM number with my MileagePlus number. The MP number is on the outbound boarding passes (including the UA prefix). Similarly, when checking in for the return, I again replaced the LM number with the MP number. I didn't notice until a few days ago that the return BPs show the LM number despite my change.
Last week when I was wondering why miles have not yet arrived in my MP account, it occurred to me to check the LM account, and don'tcha know - they credited all flights to LM, including the two segments whose BPs show the MP number.
Shot an email to TA asking them to remove from LM and credit to MP, but got a reply that they will not do that. Oh well, guess I can redeem for a lounge pass.
I wonder if changing the FF assignment at the airports rather than online would have worked better than on their website.
