Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Can one book a points reservation for someone else?
My parents are Marriott people (I'm SPG). Can my dad book a room for me, in my name, using his points (i.e. he doesn't have to show up at checkin)? I've heard some differing things on this subject, so I figured I'd check...
Thanks in advance!

Um, yeah. Go ahead and read up just a little and you'll find what you need.

Yes. That will work. You will put their name on the reservation.

Yes- one can use points to make reservations for someone else. It's the bonus certificates (now electronic) that can't be officially used for someone else.

I often give free nights to my parents (US and non-US hotels) and never had an issue (I am US based)

Have done this often for our children.
It has never been an issue. Just be sure your name is on the
reservation so you can check in.
They cannot give you a promo cert. though (as someone above mentioned^)
