US Airways Dividend Miles - PHL-LHR in Envoy: arrivals lounge at LHR? veg meal?
I'm flying Envoy tomorrow night after several years and had two questions. Did a bit of searching but couldn't find the answer to the questions directly. Apologies if they've been covered elsewhere.
- is there an arrivals service at Heathrow using the common Star Arrivals lounge? website indicates there is, but checking as some places indicate lounge is only for UA and SA.
- will there always be a vegetarian meal choice onboard? last time i took the flights there were but now the website is a bit more vague?

I don't know where that came from. You should be able to use the *A Arrivals Lounge (Business Class) in Terminal 1.

US passengers cannot use the FAST TRACK security facilities at LHR, because US didn't pay the dues. Probably not cost effective with just 1 network flight.

thanks. don't think the star alliance site says anything about the arrivals lounge but i may be mistaken.
the lounge guide wiki suggests that it's not for US (only UA/SA, since now BD is gone...)
has anyone used the arrivals lounge recently?

Sorry, I assumed by your Programs List/Status (UA) that you were *G.
Type of Eligible Customers:.....................
.......Customers holding valid proof of their Star Alliance Gold level status
Thanks Perseus.
I am indeed Star Gold but arrivals lounges are not necessarily open to Star Golds. for example if i were flying UA in paid business i can access the arrivals lounge at LHR but not if i'm in upgraded business (even as a 1K).
In this case i am in paid business tonight on PHL-LHR so will report on the lounge tomorrow morning if i don't hear anything more.

(Bolding mine) Incorrect statement. You may use the *A Arrivals lounge at LHR if you are in UA upgraded business. As long as you have a First or Business BP you have access. I've done this several times myself, in addition to being in paid J/C. Also multiple posts on same in UA forum.
So yes, the Star Alliance arrivals lounge is used by USAirways. And there were clearly marked vegetarian choices on the menu as well (Artichoke and Tomato Lasagne, which sounds pretty good).
The flight was pretty mediocre otherwise ...
- Rude check-in staff at Philly (what's new?)
- I know this is covered extensively, but lounge food selection was pretty much wiped out by 830pm when i got there (only chips and salsa, milano cookies, and oddly put out just as everyone was leaving for the gate, bananas).
- Drink selection is pathetic: bud/bud light/house red/house white, all else is chargeable
- Boarded plane at 915, sat for nearly 2 hours while they tried to fix a door slide that wouldn't disarm, then they deplaned everyone (in the possibility of a plane swap), and then they reboarded us again within 5 minutes. was very trying. finally left at about midnight.
- Immigration queue took 45 min to 1 hour this morning; Iris wasn't working, and no FastTrack for US Envoy pax (while i jealously watched the UA folks going through quickly).
Other random observations:
-I slept through the meals so no comment there; generally had a good sleep but one guy in the cabin felt the need to laugh very loudly at whatever he was watching on TV.
-The Envoy Suite is pretty good, the privacy is nice; having done DEL-EWR on the ex-CO 777 business cabin last week, i wouldn't say that the seat is any more comfortable than that one, but it is definitely better than UA's new Business seat or BA's CW seat.
- IFE seemed pretty good-crystal clear screen but a bit on the small side. movie content was pretty rich, but TV left a bit to be desired.
ok overall, but wouldn't choose USAirways over others on a regular basis.
flying back LHR-PHL Sunday afternon so will see how that is.

If you're flying in Envoy and showed your tickets, you should have been given certificates for a couple free "chargeable" drinks when you checked in at the Club front desk. At least, the was the policy the last time I went through.

i was given one drink coupon and it was for use on a Bud/Bud Light or house wine. this is what the bartender told me anyway. so i had a bud light to go with my chips and salsa.
