Got to be chairman for this year. Flying MRY-PHX-PHL-TLV in August in Y and trying to decide whether to use the upgrade certificates vs. waiting.

1) Does it work that it's two upgrades plus companions, but only for me? (i.e. if it was me, my wife and 2 kids could I upgrade all 4 of us at the same time?)

2) Are they only good through the calendar year or until next Feb/Mar?

3) Any other strategies I should think of?

Thanks in advance!

1) You can only use one cert at a time for up to 2 people given availability (you and your companion!!

2) They are good till the end of February.

3) Too many strategies to state! Here are my 2 golden rules:

a. Better burn them than let them expire. Don't wait for the ideal redemption!

b. Before you use them, check that the plane offers Envoy!!

Good advice, and a couple of details:

-- You have to buy a ticket an call to apply the certificates no later than 28 February 2013. In theory, they could be for flights departing anytime up to 330 days after then.

-- You want to make sure that the flights are on A330-200 or A330-300 aircraft, since the Envoy seats are Envoy suites for these planes.
