You will also be able to transfer your destinations miles to Executive Club Avios points at a rate of 1:1. British Airways will also be offering Executive Club customers the ability to transfer from Executive Club Avios points into destinations miles at a rate of 1:1. For example 100 destinations miles could be transferred into 100 Avios points and vice versa.

First issue may be finding it :).
For those new to Exec Club and looking for a special link for us ;) you may share my disappointment that it is in the presumably 'old' Iberia/BA transfer tool with DC added. The following is where I ended up when looking for it here (https://www.britishairways.com/travel/btt/execclub/_gf/en_gb).
Re discussions elsewhere on checking the identities match:
I have no idea if my DoB matched.
The system seems to be designed for your email addresses being different, as it says it is mailing a confirmation to both.
But the move of 1000 miles worked just fine ^.
I thought earlier blurb had talked about being able to move miles/points both ways, but here is a warning on the screen that it is only one-way: DC->Avios .

Transferred my first 500,000 and no issues.....strange thing though as in my DC accoun, it shows as 2 entries:-
02-Jul-2012 Redemption Redemption certificate #1753114 for BTTRWD-BTT Reward at British Airways Executive Club -469508 0
and
02-Jul-2012 Redemption Bonus: Redemption certificate #1753114 for BTTRWD-BTT Reward at British Airways Executive Club -30492 0
so nett and a 6.5% "bonus" to equate to the number of miles transferred:confused:
RobDBA
Jul 2, 12, 5:56 am
Mine went in two lumps as well but in a different proportion to the above...
02-Jul-2012 Redemption Redemption certificate #1753165 for BTTRWD-BTT Reward at British Airways Executive Club -72013 0
02-Jul-2012 Redemption Bonus: Redemption certificate #1753165 for BTTRWD-BTT Reward at British Airways Executive Club -49020 0
Not a problem at all though, must be some back end shenanigans going on but as long as the right amount of Avios show up at BA it doesn't really matter.

Just did the transfer for both myself and the wife's account. Saw the same wierdness as surturminn (2 transactions, one normal and one a 'bonus'). Seemed to work fine from our household account into two non-household BA accounts. Also seemed happy enough to transfer non-transferable miles which is nice since mrs marble has had a few thousand sitting in her account.

I've got a problem!
The original deal, as stated clearly in the FAQ when the deal was first announced, was that 2 way transfers would be possible. But now we get this "You can only move destinations miles from bmi Diamond Club to British Airways - you cannot move your destinations miles back again."
I presume this is linked to the fact that the VS and Qatar partnerships have not ended.
In this case, I cannot see the point in moving your miles unless you must. After all, tomorrow you may need a flight to, say, Dubai and if you still have DC then you still have the option of VS.

The inability to transfer to a BA HHA is also annoying me. My daughter is in a HHA with her grandparents. To get access to her grandparents BMI miles (the 1k sign-up bonus which I cannot move inside a BMI family account), I would need to break up the HHA and thus close my daughters BA account. Too much trouble for 2k miles.
But I genuinely don't see what the problem is, since inside a BA family account everyone can still see their own pot. It is not like avios.com HHA's where the miles were genuinely pooled.

Hmm. My parents in law who are in a HHA do not have the transfer option showing. Me and my Mrs do, and we are not in a HHA. That is what made me think that BA is sticking to the stated rule about HHA's (the FAQ at ba.com/bmi does say that if you are in a HHA you cannot transfer in).

I'm definitely in a HHA and our HHA balance went up as expected! I'm the HoH for the BD one, don't know if that makes a difference or not, but it shouldn't do given you're saying some didn't even have the option to transfer. The T&C appear to have an error. Clause 9 is probably intended to say:-9. Moving destinations miles to Avios using 'Combine my Avios' will NOT count as earning or redeeming Avios and will not prevent the expiry of your Avios balance under the Executive Club Terms and Conditions.Sorry: apparently this clause is intended to allow those who are transferring from BD to BA to be immediately eligible for Reward Flight Saver redemptions.

Bit unhappy that the reverse option isn't available, I was looking for a trip to GYD, or one of the other small number of BD mid-haul destinations (with the new 1-2 seating in about a year) and it is, shall we say, rather cheaper with BD (with the BD-G discount) than with BA. Alas I'm rather short on my BD airmiles thanks to burning my little pot on star alliance.
I guess it won't be present due to the VS issue identified, but that is still a change from what was originally advertised

Please can someone advise. I did ask on the old thread but didn't get an answer before it was closed.
I understand if I have a BMI Executive Club membership I cannot transfer to an Avios household account? I can't try as I have recently opened the BMI credit card account so as yet don't have any miles. I should have 20,000 soon plus any for spends.
I flew BA on Avios points a couple of months ago and was asked for a BA Executive Club number. As I didn't have one (Avios household account I assumed was not the same thing) I opened one online, had confirmation letter and emails. Its got a balance of zero Avios points though!
So.... I assume I can transfer Diamond Miles from BMI Club to my new BA Executive Club (Blue tier) account? Can I then transfer from that into my household account? I have no idea whether the recently opened BA Executive Club membership will auto link to my Avios Household account? As I say, it was set up later and I don't remember being asked for details of an existing Avios account.
Basically I want to get these 20k plus spend miles from my BMI Diamond Club into my Avios HH account. Any advice welcomed but I am a novice at this so please keep it simple! I also rarely fly, my flights are paid for wholly with Avios, which I earn not through flights, but through converting Tesco points.

You can certainly go BMI to BA.
I can't remember if you can transfer into an Avios HHA or if you would need to break it up, transfer to your Avios account, and then put the Avios HHA back together. However, either way, it is possible.
What you cannot do is BMI to Avios.com direct.

In light of what someone said about it not working at all with IE 64bit, and a problem I had recently with getting the Aer Lingus status match, I'd try Google Chrome or Firefox and see if it works better or shows all the options, (or if you get a better error message, as I did). Another suggestion would be to clear your browsing history and try again - sometimes works if a Java update is mis-aligned with the website in question.

Dear
As part of the bmi integration, British Airways is offering Diamond Club members the opportunity to transfer destinations miles to Avios at a rate of 1:1. We're delighted to announce that the new tool, which allows you to transfer destinations miles, is now live.
Using the transfer tool.
You can transfer your destinations miles to Avios at a rate of 1:1. To do so simply log in to your Executive Club account and go to the 'Manage My Account' page. Here you'll find a link to the 'Combine My Avios' tool under the 'Your options' section.
Before you start a transfer please ensure that your contact details, including your name, email address and date of birth, are up-to-date in both your Diamond Club and Executive Club accounts. Transfers can be made between individual accounts, but unfortunately transfers into Household Account balances are not possible.
Transfer Now
Your invitation to join the Executive Club.
In order to transfer your destinations miles from your Diamond Club account, you will need to join the Executive Club via our dedicated enrolment page at ba.com/welcomebmi.
If you are a Diamond Club Gold or Silver member, you can also apply for matching tier status within the Executive Club.
If you have any other queries about your Diamond Club membership, and what the bmi integration with British Airways means for you, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page, which is updated regularly.

Email mismatch initially prevented the mile transfer. Changing Email address in BAEC account and then confirming the change seemed to have done the trick.

Is there a way to transfer the other way, from Avios to Diamond Club? Earlier emails we got from them said 1:1 transfer rate going both directions, but the tool on ba.com looks like it will only transfer miles from bmi into Avios.

You cannot transfer the other way. I have successfully transferred to AVIOS, although I couldn't do so this afternoon, presumably due to system overload!

There's no hurry to do this, is there? I was planning on doing it a bit later in the Summer, as I plan a few redemptions on bmi Regional first. I believe I read somewhere that the cut-off date is the 27th October for conversions.
Doing it a bit later will mean that the whole system will be calmer and less likely to crash.

Not only is there no hurry, but I actually wouldn't do it if you have a big balance as you lose the option of Virgin redemptions. BA will give plenty of warning before pulling it.

Unable to access my DC account from the transfer tool this am.
Phoned BAEC and told all details - NAME, ADDRESS, DOB, & EMAIL - must be the same in both accounts. Not helped by EC and DC displaying address in different formats!!!
Changed these whilst BAEC still on phone and tried again. DC details still not recognised in BA transfer tool. BAEC contact then admitted they had been experiencing problems and it might be worth trying again in a few days!!
9/7/12 - Called BAEC today for assistance with better results. The agent requested my details, and entered them for me, hey presto, DC miles transferred. Turns out I was missing three 0's (zeros) from the front of my DC membership number.
I also enquired about my DC miles accual method (MBNA cc). She told me DC will continue for time being, as will accrual. There is no limit on how many times you can transfer miles to Avios, so long may DC continue!!

There's no hurry to do this, is there?I remain totally and absolutely baffled by why so many people are so desperate to do this on day one.
There's one person I know of who had a very good reason to do it at the beginning - an immediate need for extra miles/Avios to complete an MFU that needed to be done right then.
But I simply can't believe that everyone thinks they're in the same position! There's no merit in itself in having a bigger miles/Avios total that you're not going to use immediately, when a transfer at a later date will be just as easy and quick.

Time to ditch the good and old BMI mastercard? Not necessarily - it depends if you're trying to hit a target spend on the BA Amex for a companion voucher or not. Otherwise the 1.5 Avios/pound earning rate on the MasterCard is pretty good given the lack of annual fee & generally more widespread acceptance of MasterCard vs Amex!

Just transferred my first tranche of miles from Diamond Club to BA. Had to resuscitate my BA membership, so long untouched (been a member for decades but did not go back to accruing miles to them after they swiped 100,000 miles out of my account). I did not get time to call BA today about the miles I successfully transferred form DC to BA 2 days ago, that were marked expired on the following day!
But if poster above is saying that BA will demand I add to my avios in the next three months just to satisfy their system , then this is not going to be possible as I'm not flying in the next three months. Plus I'm not going to pander to a system that treats someone who formerly flew BA and is willing to give them another go, worse than someone just off the street opening a new BA account who doesn't find all their transferred miles expire immediately.
Those thousands of miles were earned fair and square with DC. They are valid miles. They have not become invalid through the transfer. I'm not going to accept this . On second thoughts, I might have to wait a week before I call BA so as to avoid embarrassing myself by being really rude to them if that is what they are going to say...! we need a level playing field. those miles are just as valid as anybody else's. If this is a taste of BA then perhaps I will rethink my decision to give them another tryout.
If they are going to mark them expired then they can jolly well give them back then! This would be a valid case for the miles to come back as they can';t just disappear. Perhaps they'll enjoy the admin more of giving them back and I'll plan to use them on Virgin or something. Plus, what's so different about someone who hasn't accrued to BA in three years, compared to someone who opened a new BA account yesterday that's never flown BA at all? Why should someone that never flew before, not have their transferred DC miles expire immediately too?

Did the transfer work immediately for everyone?
The miles were deducted from my bmi account 3 days ago, but have not yet appeared on my BA account.
For my colleague, the points were available immediately on his BA account,I asked BAEC. Their answer:
"Avios moved using 'Combine my Avios' will usually be shown against the Executive Club account immediately and will usually be available for use immediately. However, occasionally the transaction may take longer to show and until shown, the Avios will not be available for use. You will receive an email from each Programme to the registered email address to confirm you have initiated the transfer of your destinations miles to Avios from one Programme to another Programme.
I would advise you to wait for sometime as there are instances where some of our members have received their destination miles after a few days of delay. If you still need further assistance with this, please contact your dedicated Service Centre, where one of our agents will be able to assist you."
Did someone actually receive Avios after a few days if they were not credited immediately?

It took me three times, but I eventually transferred my BMI miles to Avios. However, I've tried nearly 50 times and can't do the same for my wife's account.
There is no option to "combine miles" under the "Manage My Account" tab on the ba website. When I go through bmi's website, I'm connected to ba's website and the bar says "transfer tool" at the top, but I'm not getting anything other than a view of my ba account info. The same result happens when I click on the link in the email inviting me to convert.
Thus --- if there is no option to combine points on my ba page, what do I do?

apologies in advance as I haven't had the time to read through this whole thread... I'm trying to transfer my BMI miles to BAEC. I have an existing BAEC account from when I lived in the UK until 2005. The address is a UK one.
When I go to do the transfer, I get the error message saying the accounts don't match. I'm guessing this might be because the two addresses are different? (One UK one AU.)
So I try to change my BAEC address to my current one, but it gives me a 'your region is not eligible for membership'.

Pts used to post to the bmi account.None of us know for now - as long as DC exists and the BD->BA transfer tool is working I'm quite happy with that situation though! I think they'll need to at least give a couple of months notice though for us to have time to stop spending and credit existing miles across.

Uh-oh. Ignore my previous joyful post. Smooth transfer, all miles transferred 6th July. Confirmed by an email from BA, and an email from BMI.
Today 7th July one day later, checked BA account. All miles transferred showing as expired!
I am going to have to call BA tomorrow. This is going to be fun.
This. I had not had activity in either acount in over 3 years, but would think the transfer counts as activity.

"Search" is working robustly. However, I read into the posts some confusion over whether the reinstatement and 90-day grace period are official policy. It sounds as though they are.

i called them today - they are aware of the glitch. Said it could take 'up to 7 days' to reinstate the miles, but 'likely to be less time, we just say 7 days in case'.
They also confirmed 36 month expiry. i mentioned some reports of a 90 day 'interim' period during which you might have to earn an avio - she said absolutely not - 36 months it will be.

The household account reference is wrong, I have household accounts at both bmi and BA ends and it works fine. Did you try setting one up at the bmi end? Also others have found BA sometimes need more info, so you could also try setting up full APIS info for your wife.

For those who are late to this, like myself, don't forget that it states that it can take up to 28 days for profile modifications at Diamond Club to be processed. I updated mine yesterday, and will wait a while before starting up with the BAEC.
The big question is this: is it better to join the BAEC using the link sent in the DC email sent out on 3rd July, which has the promotion code ECBMI1 embedded in the form? Or to join the BAEC without any reference to Diamond Club whatsoever (which is what I did yesterday, but I haven't clicked on the confirmation link yet)?

I did the transfer and suffered the 'balance reset to zero' because of expired miles.

I get the same issue, you login and it then opens a summary page, within a summary page (frame within a frame). Found the only way to get it working is accessing the link by clicking through My Account etc. as noted in post 1, that then seems to work. If you just dump in the URL it seems to give that strange error (tried in FF/Chrome/IE).

My guess is that it will be 1:1 until BA decides to wind up the DC scheme (or let it survive just for Regional), at which point a cutoff date will be announced and the rate will then become 1:0.

OK - so the problem with my son's account was that while the emails matched, they were the same as the emails on my account. Changed both to something different and his worked.
For my daughter, her email addresses didn't match. Fixed that. Worked.
A hint on the emails - if you change them on the BA side, you have to verify through the email, or you can't get a "combine my Avios" link again.
On my wife's, though, the points are gone from her BMI account, but haven't arrived in her BA account. I saw several posters mention this about a month ago, but no follow-ups. I'll assume they'll show in a few days since I'm guessing those guys would have posted back if there was still a problem.

a) yes
b) that's not how the BA HHA works - they wouldn't get transferred anywhere, but if their accounts became members of your HHA when making a redemption a pro-rata deduction from their account would be made (it does it based on what percentage of the total HHA their individual one represents)

Had several family members BMI accounts with 4k or 5k sign up bonus miles which could not be transferred up to Head of Household account in BMI
If I open BAEC accounts for these family members with orphaned miles, can I then
a) transfer the BMI sign on bonus miles across to their own BAEC accounts
b) move the miles up from their individual BAEC accounts to my BAEC Head of Household account?
I dont think this will work I received this reply from DC (actually the reply came from PTS) I did contact Nicci and she assured me that signup bonus miles are transferable. In the email it states " As you were advised by the BA representative" It was a DC rep not a BA rep. BA had no problem with what type of miles they were , just not status miles . I phoned the sender of this letter explained what Nicci had said but he was not interested and the matter was closed. I also asked to speak to his supervisor, he then hung up.
Dear BABROWN
Many thanks for taking the time to contact bmi regarding these issues you have experienced while trying to transfer 'Bonus Destination Miles' from your bmi diamond club account to BA's frequent flyer program.
As you were advised by the BA representative, both account have been suspended, this is not due to no activity on the accounts. The reason for the accounts being suspended is that yourself and ******** have never actually travelled with bmi or any Star Alliance partner. Your accounts did have 'Bonus Destination Miles' which are non-transferrable. The 'Bonus Destination Miles' you have in your accounts have all come from other diamond club accounts. We decided to suspend your accounts as this is breaching the terms and conditions you agreed to when signing up to the diamond club scheme in 2009.
All the miles you have in your accounts are 'Bonus Destination Miles' which have all been transferred from other accounts with similar names and the same address, this was done between the dates of 1st December 2009 and 5th December 2009. All the miles were accumulated from a promotion bmi ran where you got 5,000 or 4,000 'Bonus Destination Miles' to just sign up to our frequent flyer scheme. We feel these accounts were set up to get the 'Bonus Destination Miles'
This is the reason your accounts have been suspended, the 'Bonus Destination Miles' you had are now void and have 0 value. BA will be informed of this situation to make sure nothing progresses any further.
I trust this is satisfactory for you, should you have any further queries in regards to this please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards

This is the reply from Nicci
Hi BABROWN
You can transfer all destinations miles but not status miles if this is what you are referring to?
Warm regards
Nicci

While I'm sure you're quite angry with the response, I try to see the light side of things and must admit I did chuckle at their ending: I trust this is satisfactory for you, should you have any further queries in regards to this please don't hesitate to contact me.

I'm not taking sides in this matter, but two things are obvious:
1) You have no bmi miles for the reasons cited by the bmi representative - and thus, there is nothing to transfer;
2) If you did have bmi miles, they would be transferable from the BD account in which they were originally issued to a BA account with an identical name; (that's the bit Nicci was talking about, not the first bit)
What is just not possible - and pretty much never has been* - is to transfer sign-up bonus miles from one bmi account to the head of family bmi account.
*There was a brief period where the systems mistakenly allowed signup bonus miles to be transferred to the head of household. When bmi realised this, it was stopped and the miles transferred were tagged as non-transferable. bmi has been very clear about this for quite a long time; this is not news. Further, those sign-up bonus miles were only redeemable against the person whose account they were issued to - you were not permitted to use the 1/2/3/4/5k to redeem for someone else, even when the miles had been consolidated though the loophole.
To me it seems logical, even if unpalatable to you, that such accounts - known round these parts as family-pet accounts as many people opened accounts for their cats and dogs - were wholesale suspended by bmi, as the bonus miles were awarded for the purpose of enticing travellers to open and used the DC account for posting miles.
As to what Nicci said, it seems to me, you are, at best, talking at cross purposes; if you wish to ask insufficiently clear questions, you will, of course, get insufficiently clear answers.
