Hello All
Looking for an hotel in Austin for the F1 weekend, I want to bring some good guests into town, any hotels still available you would recommend that are not overpriced but still offer full service?

Good luck with that !
Formula 1 in Austin is from november the 16th to the 18th and :
. Starwood hotels are fully booked ( W, Sheraton, Westin and Aloft) with W being virtuoso
. Lake Austin Spa Resort (also virtuoso according to virtuoso.com) doesn't show availability online so you should try to call them (and it's 35 min from downtown Austin )
. Barton Creek resort and Spa fully booked
. FS Austin fully booked
. Driskill fully booked
. IC Austin fully booked
Maybe through a TA or FHR they may be able to snag a few rooms but all hotels seem to be fully booked for the whole week .
Any idea if loyalty status ( IC, SPG or Gold Passport) could help with the 48/72 h room guarantee despite the event ? Would be surprising ....
However, have no idea of the quality of the hotels in Austin , having never set foot there . Good luck !

There is a story in today's Austin paper that a Holiday Inn in Round Rock (about 15 miles north of downtown) is going for $500/night that weekend. 200 hotels are sold out already. Your best hope would be staying in San Antonio and somehow getting charter transportation. Hotel Eilan is new and relatively unknown (from a popularity and luxury perspective)--it might be available that weekend. I have not been but my parents had lunch there and were impressed

sad that I will leave austin (new job otherwhere) from this fall.
You can get the club carlson points and redeem then
I logged in to HHonors.com and saw availability for several north-austin hotels...the $ price was pretty high, but 25k points isn't bad at all for this very high demand weekend. I would suggest looking in Buda, Tx or Kyle, Tx, which are south of Austin on the interstate...If you want to stay in San Marcos (further south, about 35min away in GOOD traffic, halfway between austin and san antonio) PM me and i'll let you know whats good.
When I fly to Austin I usually book at the Hilton Austin Airport hotel. It's very close to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/texas/hilton-austin-airport-AUSAHHF/index.html).
while they don't have great hotels, you might find some availability.
