Dear all

As I want to combine a personal travel after my business trip, I may ultimately need to make a connection in Mumbai on separate tickets. I have not been to India and would be grateful if the members here could share your experience.

I plan to arrive with TG317 (arrive in Mumbai at 21:55) and then fly further the LH765 (departing Mumbai at 01:40).

I would be grateful if someone could provide your views on the following:

a. Is enough connection time of almost 4 hours sufficient in this case?
b. Is it possible to check my luggage through to MUC at BKK and recommended to do so?
c. Is possible for me to stay on airside in BOM or is it necessary get through customs? The reason being that I need a visa to visit India (but can get one on arrival). I am hoping by staying on airside, it spares me the trouble from getting one.

Thank you.

1) Yes 4 hours is plenty
2) It is possible and if you get a good agent they should be able to do it. Make sure you have a print out of your onwards ticket to make it easier for them to do.
3) Last time I transited through BOM on 9W (although this was in 2009), I went straight from the flight to security (they looked at my passport but no visa required) and then through security to the airside departures lounge. You don't have to got through immigration and you won't need a visa. I am not sure if there was a transit desk so it might be worth checking in online and printing your boarding pass off (If they can't give you one at BKK).

I had a very similar question which was expertly answered here:

I have done this a few times from other carriers to LH.

if its in the same reservations, there is usualyy someone waiting for you at the aircraft exit.

That person will try to get you to go to check in, if you have a visa to get your bp. but there is an airside transfer desk and transfers are possible airside. They will just call someone to check you in.

4 hours is plenty.

I am repeating myself:

It is allways a good idea to xref your PNRs.
