I was wondering out of the following hotels in Reno where would you stay? Which is the nicest hotel with the better rooms, service, buffets and action? I know Reno is not Vegas but its fine for me.

1.Atlantis( I know its out of town)
2 . Harrahs
3.Silver Legacy

Thanks

I've stayed at your 3 (not lately) and I'd take the SL. I like the Summit at the High Sierra and the Peppermill better than your choices though. wj

Atlantis isn't "out of town", it just isn't in the heart of "downtown" like your other two choices.

Silver Legacy and Harrah's are both conveniently located with regard to other casinos and non-casino dining and entertainment options.

Of the last two, I'd go with Silver Legacy simply because I've won money there and have never won a dime at Harrah's.

Both of those are also very nice indeed, but both are located outside the "downtown" area. If you're planning on renting a car while in Reno then this is a non-issue.

1. Great location.
2. Connected to two other casinos via enclosed skybridges functionally forming one giant three-block-long casino with numerous dining and gambling choices.

1. Incredible top-floor oversized jacuzzi tub room

2. One of the best steaks I've had at their steakhouse.

the better buffets?

Thanks
Oops! I missed that bit on the first reply.

In my opinion, the three best buffets in Reno are:
1. Eldorado
2. Peppermill
3. Atlantis

The buffet at Harrah's is kind of "meh": It is neither particularly good nor remarkably bad. They do occasionally offer two-for-one specials though, at least at breakfast.

I have not eaten at the buffet at Silver Legacy since it was remodeled a few years ago, but it has garnered good reviews. It isn't open every day and is usually very crowded when it is open.

Grand Sierra also has a buffet, but I have never eaten there nor have I read any reviews of it.

I know it's not on the OP's list, but for future reference for others, I stayed a night at Grand Sierra in April and had dinner at their buffet on a Thursday night.

Pros:
-Great service, the best I can ever remember at a buffet
-Big fresh shrimps
-Fresh hot and cold foods coming out even at ~9:30 pm
-Decent value; I believe dinner was $17.95/person

Cons:
-No crab legs on weeknights (though I'm unsure if other casino buffets in Reno offer this anyway)
-Desserts were kind of lacking
