I have 67000+ miles in my Etihad Airways (Etihad Guest) program which will start expiring soon. I am not interested in redeeming those for gift cards, etc. I did a little bit of research and it seems that I can redeem them for Flight on American Airlines. Here is my game plan, redeeming those points initially (for AA) for December and then based on my final plans Changing those Dates again to match my plans...
Any body have any experience doing something similar? What Kind of Taxes and Surcharges you had to pay at the time of ticket issuance.
Following are the Key Conditions for redeeming those miles on American (as listed on Etihad's website)...
• Flight rewards are subject to capacity control which may limit the number of seats available for award travel.
• Miles can be redeemed for all American Airlines, American Eagle and American Connection operated and marketed flights. Both Domestic and International flights are eligible for redemption.
• A minimum of 14 days advance notice is required for a making a reward flight booking.
• Applicable taxes and surcharges will have to be paid at the time of ticket issuance.
• Reward tickets are valid for a maximum period of one year from the original date of issue.
• Date changes are possible free of charge within validity and subject to availability.
