Mileage Run Discussion - I had such high hopes....

Morning everyone. Been following this thread for ages (7-8 years now), I rarely post.. But I felt the need to do it now.

I have always been looking forward for the "right" time to do a trip and then add in some miles there, i.e if I know I have to go travel somewhere for a wedding and try to get some miles out of it...

I am not elite in anything, I am trying to to become A3 Gold, currently at 4k miles here...

Anyways, just to show you my failure, here is a trip with the segments that needed to be flown:

lhr-yyz-fco-jtr-ath-fco-cph-lhr

This could have been a decent run, but because the timing of this trip (mid july) the prices were just too much and I had to resolve to flights such as air transat...

Now I am thinking that I could have done:
lhr-jfk-lax-ath-sju-ath-lax-jfk-yyz-fco-jtr-ath-fco-cph-lhr


which would have given me 41613 EQM! It especially bothers me because the DL fare from LAX-SJU RT price at around 400ish in mid July.. The only trip that is booked that cant be refunded or changed is the yyz-fco segment, everything else is still up for grabs.. But I am wondering because of the summer season there wont be any opportunity to score some miles here?

Trying to see if I can do a trip LHR-JFK-(SOME SORT OF MR HERE)-YYZ and see if I can combine that with the AA challenge....

do lhr-mia/dfw -yyz rt on a 1 pt/mi aa fare....often the upfare is cheap...

none of this is on aa i presume....

check the mi, but you can get 10k+ bis by going via lax to yyz....

edit to add...a quick look showed high prices imho....

perhaps you could post a ticket for your date that does the 10k bis & see if someone can help to minimize the c/eqm/pt

Yes that segment is all on *A flights. Hopefully banking in about 4k miles for that trip. The last segment cph to lhr its club europe on BA

Is it correct that AA now allows you to fly partner airlines to complete the Platinum challenge? If this is true then I can put my BA flight towards that, easy 1200 miles there and need to concentrate on around 9kish in US next week....

aa flight #s only....an aa code share on ba will count....

ps....aa can get you to yyz...
