Harrah's just announced this years promotion. Start's 7/1 and ends 10/1. Check Harrah's TR for all the rules and regulations. But what's listed below is what can be earned. I will say I liked last years better and 2010 the best.

Receive 6 to 7 CheckPoints and receive 10,000 Reward Credits
Receive 8 to 10 CheckPoints and receive 25,000 Rewards Credits
Receive11 to 14 CheckPoints and receive 50,000 Reward Credits
Receive 15+ CheckPoints and receive 75,000 Rewards Credits

The biggest negative this year is that many areas have been combined. I went to Reno, Tahoe, Vegas, Laughlin, Phoenix Ak Chin, and San Diego Rincon last year for six visits, which earned the top level of 60K.

This year, that same trip counts for three visits and six checkpoints, earning only the lowest (10K) level.

You also have to earn 25 reward credits at a single property, rather than just 1.

All true, it seems they make it harder each year? :(

I don't even have the desire to participate in this one. Last year's was great...I tried Harrah's Rincon for the first time because of it and went back again this year. But this promo just isn't worth the effort.

Anyone interested in swapping cards. I have Phoenix, Laughlin, Vegas and Possibly San Diego for the right trade off.

I can get to 7 pretty easy, but after that it would take some extra trips. Not sure it is worth going beyond 6, but we shall see. Having a 100 in comps for both me and my wife would be a nice offset to the cost of a room

Atlantic City
Caesars - No ID needed but they have the machines next to VIP check in for swiping. Had to ask a few people before finally finding it. Easy enough though.

Philadelphia
Machine was on the 3rd floor near the elevators and Liberty Bell. Simple swipe, no ID.

Las Vegas (Rio)
The swipe machine was at the TR desk, they were busy as usual so they didn't request any ID, YMMV. You could swipe it yourself however the desk person has to reach over and click the mouse to allow the next person to swipe. Not efficient but it works.

Can do AC and Chester/Philadelphia (for a total of four points any time). Should also be going to Tunica and Vegas before the promotion is over (For another 6 points). I don't have dates for that yet. PM me if you are interested in trading. I have two cards - one of which is diamond so you can get free parking, etc out of the deal.

I am looking specifically for:
Louisiana (not New Orleans)
Tunica
Arizona/San Diego
Cleveland
Canada
Kansas City
Iowa
Metropolis, IL

You had to go to the Total Rewards desk and show ID as well as your TR card and they "swiped" it for you. There were no kiosks to use.

Just a update for less used Harrah's prop. I visited Council Bluffs and KC recently. Both require you to go to the rewards center and show id with your card. Both are small and I'm guessing it wouldn't pay to put machines in to swipe? :(

At Caesars and Harrahs in AC there are kiosks (at Caesars the kiosk is near VIP check-in in the main lobby, at Harrahs, it is at a promo kiosk at the Brigantine entrance)--NO id's are required.
[For Harrahs, there are several different promos, if you go there make sure you swipe your card in the correct kiosk.]

When you get the 75000 points do the go to your rewards or do they go to help get a seven star card. I am lacking 25000 points to get a seven star and live in colorado .I really would like to getthere but I do not live close enough.

The 75,000 points go to your rewards credits but not to your Tier Points (those are used to determine your level - gold, platinum, diamond, seven star). Not sure if you are getting them confused.

Yes, in Harrahs system, the only way (unless there is some secret method I don't know about:p) to get base points = tier points is by actual gambling, the various (multiplier etc.) promos do not count.
[PS: A few months ago, I received a mailing which appeared to say that when you played under that promo your base pts. = tier points were going to be multiplied; many other players I spoke with had the same interpretation--Harrahs used incorrect wording describing it.:td:]

Tier Credits can also be earned from (https://www.totalrewards.com/TotalRewards/RewardsAndBenefits.do?page=trBenefits#howdoiearnth em)...

HOTEL SPENDING - Earn 1 Tier Credit for every $5.00 spent on hotel accommodations.

DINING SPENDING - Earn 1 Tier Credit for every $5.00 spent at any of our participating restaurants

SHOPPING SPENDING - Earn 1 Tier Credit for every $5.00 spent at participating retail outlets.

I've (mistakenly) always thought that only gambling could get you tier credits--I guess I should keep track of the rules more carefully.:o
But, while spending $500,000 on hotel, food and shopping (with NO gambling), would get one to 7* level would they get 7*--Harrahs has this (wonderful:td:) disclaimer, re 7*, 7* is NOT automatic.
I found a note on their web page(s), for non-Gaming: $5 purchase = 1 Tier and 5 Reward Credits (which buys you $0.05)--how would (RC) multiplier days fit into the picture? (In AC for the month of July, M-F, every day was a 5x multiplier day (for invited guests only).

Does anyone know if you can get can get checkpoints at more than one location in a single day?

I'm toying with the idea of doing a day trip to hit up two more casinos that would put me up to 15 checkpoints. But I can only make it work if I can hit up two different places in one "day". Anyone have any experience on whether this will work?

Thanks

There shouldn't be a problem with this. As long as you swipe and opt-in at each destination and then play your 25 tier credits, you can visit as many destinations as you like in one day. In fact my friend is hitting St. Louis tomorrow followed by Metropolis, IL both in the same day, and will swipe at both. Then she'll be at Southern Indiana on Sunday.

I'm flying into Vegas on 9/8....thinking about doing this promotion but I'm not a big gambler. Can someone advise me on how to get he best bang for the least buck? I really don't know how to play the table games, I do know how to play the slots - insert money, lose money, go to buffet :D

I'm not looking to trade since I'm probably going to be at enough of these destinations to get the points I need if I go for it, but I am not opposed to taking cards along to Vegas if anyone needs an assist (PM).

Hi
I have TR diamond status, not sure when this happened. I never ask for comps but usually get my room/suite comped.
I usually have between $5-$10k budget. I play blackjack on average $100 per hand and at least 6 hours per day. I do have the odd $1k roulette spin if I'm up playing blackjack. (if I win I up my blackjack stake to between $100-$300)

Is a room comp about the going rate for this play or should I be pushing for more?? I don't really like to ask for things but have no idea if I under/over rate my own play.

Cheers!!

Ok, my 3 day run from Chicago comes up in a week's time and I will need 4 points to hit the 75000 Reward Credit level.

So it is either Windsor + Cleveland or Metropolis + Elizabeth(IN).

Looking at the TR Booking Engine I can get the following accommodation comped:

Windsor: 3 nights Caesars Luxury Room
Cleveland: 3 nights Ritz Carlton or Renaissance King Room
Metropolis: 3 nights Horseshoe Deluxe Room
Elizabeth: 3 nights Horseshoe Deluxe room

or any combination of 1+2 nights

Metropolis+Elizabeth will require 880 miles driving and Windsor+Cleveland 830 miles.

Any advice on which offer the best accommodation, which trip would be the more interesting drive and which of the cities are the more interesting to spend 1-3 nights?

Thanks

Edit - Oh and at which one am I more likely to win a multi-million dollar slot jackpot?

Windsor and Cleveland are both smoke free casinos and neither one has comped drinks (Ohio/Canada laws), not sure about the other two. I am a non-smoker and hate smoke so that is a plus for me, and always have to drive to those two casinos so drinks don't matter either.

Ceasars windsor has a great casino and the windsor riverfront is nice, but other than that nothing to do there unless you want to take VIA to toronto while you are there. You also have to deal with crossing the border. If you can go when there is an event, the collosium is reaely nice.

Cleveland's casino wasn't that impressive to me. The ritz carlton is a great hotel though and there are other things to do in Cleveland like rock and roll hall of fame and the science museum.

Windsor has a kiosk, Cleveland you have to have your card swiped at the TR desk.

Thanks, appreciate the advice.

The smoke-free part is certainly appealing and I don't drink and gamble - playing slots is stupid enough without doing it drunk :)

Maybe 2 nights in Cleveland and 1 in Windsor (it will be over a weekend) will be the way to go. Especially since on the Sunday Windsor has a 10x RCs for Diamonds.
I will have a rental car - how is the crossing from Detroit? Or would I be better off leaving the car behind and just getting the tunnel bus that I believe goes very close to Caesars?
I've never been to Niagara Falls but after a few days of gambling that might be too dangerous a sidetrip. It looks like a long return trip from either Windsor or Cleveland too.

It isn't too bad crossing the border, just not sure if you would have a hassle taking a rental car out of the country of not. There is plenty of free parking in the garage at windsor along with valet and you don't need a ticket. With Cleveland you do have to put your card in a kiosk with your TR card to get it validated and the garage is across the street. I know valet is free for diamonds, not sure about others. For self parking I know you have to have a certain amount of gambling on your card for the ticket to get validated. I know from Toronto, Niagra is a good hour and a half.

No problem with the rental car/border crossing
The view from the room at Caesars across the river to Detroit was nice.
The two free nights at the Ritz Carlton Cleveland had the added bonus of a $120 food and beverage credit and it was nice to not have to run the gauntlet of the slots to get into the hotel - having said that I found the range of slots at the Horseshoe Cleveland to be great , probably because it is a new casino.

Glad you had a fun trip. I really liked Horseshoe in Cleveland. It is the former Higbee's flagship store and it brought back a lot of memories. I wish they would have kept the huge figh pond that used to be in front of the restaraunt and incorporated the old wooden escalators into the casino though, those were both very unique to have had there when the building was still a store in the early 90s.

If you use it to pay for rooms, food, resort fees yes. I don't know about converting them to gaming dollars . If you want to cash them in it's closer to 1/2 cent. I know a $50 gas card costs 10,000 points. Best value is using at Harrah's.

Hopefully I will end up with the correct amount of 75,068.....

You got my hopes up, but I am still stuck at an increase of just over 8,000 points that should be 75,000.

Yesterday my acct. increased by 30,000, the total was 33,001; now it the total is nearly 42,000, but the increment is not an "even" amount--per original promo the earnings were all xx,000:confused:

I visited enough checkpoints for the 10,000 point level. Points posted slowly over yesterday and today for a total of 9,999 - maybe the final point is still finding its way?

As of this morning, I now have 75,065. I don't think I'll complain about the 3 credits I am owed :)

Same here and both wife and I were expecting 50,000 because we had 11 points?
Correction my wife got 25,000 and I got 20,000 and I played more?

Just went in today and both wife and I have 50,000 posted. I guess it just took them awhile. :)

I'm now at 56031 up from 47780 yesterday. I suppose it takes longer to drip feed in 75000 reward credits.

Checked again: I received 75,001 (maybe 1 from VISA?), and the wife got 74,997 ().

Bizarre, but no more complaints. ^

Now at 69002 - I expect the remaining 5998 are swanning there way across the Pacific as I type.

Very weird how the totals keep adding up over days to get to the end?

:mad:This is Nov. 15 and all my family's points aren't posted yet. We are flight attendants and pilots and even with free travel, we found this contest to be expensive and difficult, especially for the Westcoast residents.

I know Cleveland had trouble and was told those points would be added today. I checked on them this afternoon and the lady in Total Rewards tried to tell me I didn't get the 75000 credits because St. Louis and Tunica counted as one??????? Then she tried to tell me I didn't get points because I played at several properties in one location. I said I did play at several properties in one location but I got all my points at one of them in one day. Am I not allowed to play where ever I want once I have my 25 credits at one location?

They really need some way of submitting our entries as we complete the 25 credits at each location. I play a lot all over the US. I may have accumulated only a few credits one time and hundreds another time. So when they scan my play and only see a few credits are they not looking further to see if I played all 25 another time? I don't know. I do know they need to fix the system. This did not work. What the 7 of us took as great fun now has a very bitter taste.

It really has taken the fun out of my gaming experience and will definitely slow down. I am very bummed by this contest.

Spare a thought then for those who don't get free travel and live 7000 miles west of the West coast

This promotion worked okay for us. Instead of flying rt from Florida to Dallas, my wife and I piled into the van for a road trip stopping at 4 casinos also the way in Mississippi and Louisiana. We stopped along the way at cheap Carlson properties (CI & S, Radisson, Park Inn) using Carlson Club points earned on a promotion over there, and each completed our 50K point levels (after including credit from a previous trip to Las Vegas that we had scheduled before the promotion was announced).

It was actually a fun road trip, and we a thinking about doing it again next year with a destination of San Antonio instead of Dallas.

We did the same thing in the Midwest. Council Bluffs, KC, St. Louis, Metropolis, and Joliet. Plus we already had a trip to NYC so we took a day trip to AC. Your right it was fun and we would add 1 more day to visit Cleveland and Windsor next year to max out.

On Friday, 11/16/12, my rc showed approx. 41,000 (on my computer at 8:00 am, and at Caesars in AC at 1 pm). While I was playing at a slot machine (at around 3 pm), I noticed that my rc balance had decreased by approx. 10,000 pts. I checked at the TR desk, and they didn't see any decrease, just the lower number. Something is screwy.
Anyone have a similar thing happen--I'm pretty sure it is related to the Great Race promo.

Now up to 74998 RCs. This has to be the most bizarre crediting system in the universe. Maybe Casino companies are so used to money laundering they always act in ways to confuse Internal Revenue:)
