We've toured most of Europe the Baltic and China but we've missed the Norwegian coast and the Fjords.

We would like to do the Fjord cruise next season in 2013 but are having trouble finding published cruise dates (2012 sailings abound)

Our specific problem is matching up FF air availablity (330 days out) with an embarcation port and return. Even our major travel agency is having problems finding 2013 dates being published for this routing using their preferred partners.

Can I get any date suggestions for multiple major cruise lines on this routing leaving from any port on a 7-10 day cruise of the Norwegian Fjords?

Once I have some suggestions I typically research cruise reviews and then quickly narrow down the choices after reviewing an airline FF availability

i been to 3 of these towns.. thry are all very hilly and Stravanger the worse. Flam by the ship is flat compared to the other cities.. ony a couple stores there and a place to eat.. the railroad is the thing here. anyway yuo can get your wife on the train?/ or take it yourself and bring back pictures.. then take your wife out for lunch.

If you take a Hurtigrute ship, which started out as a mailboat in the old days but now offers cruises for tourists, they sail every day, but they do sell out fast. Some members of my family and I booked in March for July, and I got the last available single cabin.

They sail from Bergen to Kirkenes in the far north, and you can take any segment you like and book with or without meals included. If you choose not to take meals, there's a snack bar that serves up simple but adequate food and beverages.

It's not super luxurious--the cabins contain sofa-beds and bunks, a closet, a desk, and a tiny bathroom--but it's comfortable, and best of all (from the point of view of a traveler who has been frustrated by the lack of laundromats in Europe) there's a reasonably priced self-service laundry on board.

If it's your first trip to the norwegian fjords, don't miss Geiranger! If you go too early in the cruise season OR too late, Geiranger will not be on the itinerary. And it's just too beautiful to miss.

Do follow the suggestion of using the search engine at www.vacationstogo.com to find possible cruises and dates.

Royal Caribbean has several cruises in May and June 2013. They sail out of Copenhagen. This year we were on one that sailed out of Amsterdam. Geiranger was the highlight of the cruise; make sure you pick a cruise that includes that port.
