Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - LH Business Lounge access on award ticket?

While on an award Business class ticket, can you get the lounge access? I saw something like non-revenue tickets do not qualify for LH Business lounge, but not sure how it works in reality. Considering non-elite status.

I would say that it would very much depend on which Business lounge you are going to. The two in Non-Schengen B are really rather nice, the Tower Lounge isn't bad, the Business lounge at A26 can be very horrid at peak times.

To be honest, pick the one nearest your gate, the B Non-Shengens are pretty similar. The boarding passes will get you in. Plenty of things to drink, a reasonable amount of space and I'm told the food situation is better than it was since I moved to the SEN lounges this year. Don't expect a lot of food, but there's certainly nibbles and soup.

If I decide to stay at the airport for my 10 hour layover, I`m sure I`ll have plenty of time to visit all of the lounges :p Can I do that or is it one time visit t only one business lounge per boarding pass?

I wouldn't recommend staying at FRA for 10 hours, I really wouldn't, not even for 10 hours in my favourite corner of the First Class Lounge and the Business Lounges don't even touch those. Go into Frankfurt city itself or go to Mainz (which is quite lovely) or with 10 hours even further afield. That way you can get some proper food, get some fresh air and see some sights or do some shopping.

However, yes, you can do multiple entries on your boarding passes.

Oh boy...don't do that...even in FCT that is too much...they are only lounges;-) Go to Frankfurt or Mainz as suggested...takes 1/2 hour

But I have never got out of the airport during a layover, so I am a bit confused on how`s Immigration (I have the US passport) works (stamps, security coming back, etc), and how to get to Frankfurt. I found a thorough thread on Mainz though. Can you please describe the process of getting to/from Frankfurt? :p

You go through immigration and customs and then look for the train station at the airport.

In addition to Frankfurt (big modern commercial city) and Mainz (small historic city on the river), Wiesbaden is nearby, easy, and very relaxing; it's an old spa and casino town with a lovely old casino building set in gardens in the center of town.

Many posters use "J" as a shorthand way of describing business class. The "I" class is an award, but it is still business class and provides lounge access.

I've seen quite a bit of information on exploring Frankfurt and other places during long layovers but I haven't found anything in my forum searches about layover hotel options. We have a 12 hour layover (arrive 5:30am, depart 5:30pm) and despite having access to the business lounges we definitely want to get out of the airport for some fresh air. I thought it might be nice to get a hotel so that we could take a good nap post arrival or pre departure but I haven't found any good hourly hotels in FRA. I'm Hilton Blue and Starwood Gold so I think I would be able to get an early check in at the hotel properties at the airport...but 6am is quite a bit of an early check in.

Does anyone have experience with early check in at the Hilton FRA or Sheraton FRA? Are there other hotels I should consider?

I did once an early check in at the Sheraton at FRA, it was probably before 8 am, and I did not have any problem, but I guess it depends on the availability of the day. You should have good chances to get your room, being a large hotel with a lot of people checking out for early flhgts. Sheraton FRA has a day rate which is better than the regular rate.

The Sheraton has day use rooms (http://deals.sheraton.com/Sheraton-Frankfurt-Airport-Hotel-363/so.htm) at EUR 149 which you can have between 08:00 and 18:00.

The Hilton may also have similar facilities.
