From What I read the TG/UA lounge seem to be superior in all aspect to the SKL lounge here. Now I am flying C to SIN is it still true that SQ passengers have access to the Virgin Clubhouse and if so how would the Virgin Clubhouse compare to the aforementioned lounges?

Not sure about access to the VS Clubhouse, but that's quite far away (gate 60: 10-15 minutes' walk or via Automated People Mover train) from where the SQ flights board (gates 15-18 area, near immigration). The SQ SKL is in close proximity since SQ has preferential usage of these gates outside their lounge.
Edit:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/singapore-airlines-krisflyer/947767-vs-clubhouse-access-over.html
http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/flight/airline-information/airline-lounges.html doesn't indicate SQ as a user either
So no access anyway to the VS lounge.
And no, the TG/UA lounges are not superior in 'all aspects'. F&B in the SKL is much better, although it depends on your preferences (Chinese food mainly) - especially keeping in mind they have Haagen-Dazs.

Another consideration - SQ lounge doesn't have showers, in fact it doesn't have a toilet and you'd need to exit and use the common airport toilet just outside.

I think VS Clubhouse only available when passenger is flying F class, and or hold PPS? At least that's what it is in London...

The main reason for wanting access to the TG/UA would be to use the shower (connecting from SFO, or after a long day in HKG). Other than that the SQ KF lounge is fine, and OK the toilets are outside the lounge, but they are right next door, and really only a minor inconvenience if anything. (probably less inconvenient than trekking to an alternate lounge and most of the way back just because it has internal toilets!)

Sorry to bump this thread. Is there a standard gate that SQ uses in HKG? I'm on SQ 2 in two weeks and I wanted to know what can I expect to be able to do in the airport during the layover time.
Thanks!

Gate 15 - it's very close to the lounge. Note the SQ lounge has no bathroom facilities.

HKG has massive and impressive duty free shopping. Then it's off to SQ's windowless lounge before your flight. Scan both food stations--they don't offer the same thing.

I'll be traveling in SQ F later this year. Can I access the TG lounge based on class of service? I have no status on star alliance.

Yes. I personally don't think it is worth the effort, but up to you.

Yes - Just in case you don't like it, there is a UA Club next to it.

This might be changing. In late Nov the mrs and I walked into the TG HKG lounge and were informed that the bathrooms were completely closed. As we were in F, and I did need to use the facilities after consuming a large bottle of water pre-security, we just walked over to the UA lounge.
I wasn't able to ascertain if there was a plumbing problem or they were redoing the bathrooms, but, if the latter, it would be a welcomed change.

Flew SQ 2 SIN-SFO in Suites this week. I was the only passenger on the SIN-HKG leg.
In HKG, I was met at the bridge and escorted through the crew & staff transit security and taken directly to the UA Global First lounge.
I was then picked up from the lounge and walked to the gate after the economy passengers had boarded at about T-15.
I was told by the staff member escorting me that since SQ2 has been swapped with the A380 SQ is using gate 62 which is much closer to the UA lounge than the SQ lounge. I actually preferred the UA lounge to the SQ lounge that I used a few weeks prior in HKG.
Awesome experience in the suites. I really don't think hard product-wise it can be beat right now.

Of course not, sorry to say.
1. IIRC - all transit passengers are required to go back to Main Area (where immigration is located) to transit. In that case, your nearest *G lounge is in fact SKL, not UC.
2. If you have provided escort, what is the difference of using SKL or UC?
The reality is even SQ acknowledged that the windowless SKL is the worst of 3 major *G lounges in HKG.
But you know - you got to love SQ contracted staff in HKG to make up this beautiful myth...;)

Sorry to disappoint you Gary but this did happen to me a few nights ago. It did not happen coming over on SQ 1. The contracted blue-jacket representative was very friendly.
We did enter the main area and went through the transit security check. I'm sure the security check was different from the one going over. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the UA lounge. The plane landed at gate 62.
I wanted to share my positive experience which I found to be different from my experience two weeks before coming over on SQ 1.

Gate 62 is quite close to the UA/TG lounges and, while it's easy to get to any lounge after arrival transit security, boarding is easier from here.
I'm sure if you wanted to hit the SKL lounge it would be doable.
This is actually nice after the SFO-HKG segment for a shower before the onward trip to SIN.

It was unexpectedly provided for me at the jet bridge. I was the only passenger in suites on my particular flight. Lucky, also reports a escort for suites passengers here:
We will be coming into to HKG on SQ(J) from SIN and connecting to LH(J) to MUC, which lounge would be the most appropriate for us

There are at least 4 different locations at HKG where you can clear security if in transit, collect your boarding pass and head upstairs back into departures. Two of these are located close to the gate SQ2 now seems to be using. So the UA lounge would be a lot closet in this case.

Having just flown SQ1 in the suite a few days ago, the lounge at HKG is the disappointment. I really wanted a shower as i had a meeting upon arrival in SIN, and was surprised to find there was none. I asked about a Star G lounge and SKL agent could not be bothered much except to say to you have to take train to a lounge, walk back, then go through security again. Could not offer an estimate on how long that would take......

Yeah, I hear ya, I've done this schlep. It is not close. Took the train, then when there it also took me a while to find the TG lounge even with a map. Then walk back. I don't remember going through security again between the shower and showing up at the gate. Basically this effort took close to the entire time we were on the ground for me to complete. By the time I got back to the gate, they had just started boarding. Was happy to be showered, nonetheless.
I heard somewhere the SKL HKG lounge will be getting showers and toilets, is that still happening?

If you are flying SUITES, you can use Global First Lounge UA. There are two showers in the First Lounge. We used it both ways in Dec.

I'll be flying SQ2 back to SFO but it looks like to shower I should leave a little extra time? I'm flying in J so would I be able to get lounge access at the other *A lounges to shower or should I be looking to pay at the airport?
I'm guessing for my SQ1 flight in I'll have to use the airport's facilities.

You should have no problem with J and using the showers at the UA lounge. I just flew SQ2, SIN-SFO last week. To use the UA lounge in HKG, all you need is your boarding pass. When I reached the UA lounge, it was about 10:10pm (boarding gate's 62). I waited till almost 11pm before I could use the shower (there was a queue and only 2 showers). Only had about 10 mins to shower. Departure was at 11:40pm.
If you want to browse Duty Free items, I would recommend that you go to the UA lounge upstairs first, give them your boarding pass and get in line. If there's a line, you can then adjust your shopping time accordingly. There were 4 others ahead of me and my wait time was about 45 mins.
I've also used the shower at the UA lounge when I flew SQ1, SFO-SIN. The train and walking took forever. It took me about 20 mins to walk from the UA lounge to the SKL. I did not have to go through security. It was a straight walk.
Hope this helps.

Okay. I have 2 hrs 10 minutes to transfer from CX to SQ2. Hopefuly that should give me enough time to run in and shower before the long flight home. So it's just the UA lounge I can hit up? Thai is a no go?
And sorry for the noobness, but I'm arrriving on SQ1 a week earlier. Not transferring, so I guess that means I'll have to use the airport lounge to shower at 6am? Thanks!

I have access the Travelers Lounge East as part of the Priority Pass. It says it's near gate 1.
I think SQ1 is back to gate 15 these says. It would seem like the best shower strategy would be to use Traveler's Lounge for a shower and the SKL for amenities, food/bev etc. (i'm in F).
Sound like a good plan?
