Budget Travel - Budget Hotels or Guest Houses at Amsterdam and Berlin

Hi,

I am planning to stay in Amsterdam and Berlin for a week and am looking for some hotel options or better still a home / guest house / hostel option.

I am traveling along and would be flexible to stay but want a a decent / clean place to stay.

I prefer a local place where I can mingle with the actual folks and experience the culture rather than a standard brand hotel.
