US Airways Dividend Miles - Which is Better? PHL-PHX-MRY on US or PHL-SFO-MRY on UA?
UA gets in 15 minutes earlier and if there's a mechanical on the SFO-MRY leg, I can drive.
I figure probably better chance of Chairman upgrade to F on US but if the PHX-MRY flight doesn't take off, I'm screwed.

I have no chance of an upgrade on UA; I have a decent shot on US ... short trips it doesn't matter if schedules are better but on a transcon I know which airline I'd pick :)
Besides, US2975 PHX-MRY has very good history according to flightstats ... on-time 88% with average delay of 11 min.

Why would PHX-MRY not depart? This is a no brainer in my book. Go with US where you are likely to be upgraded. Plus, UA is in meltdown right now. Check out the UA forum for daily horror stories.

Is PHX-MRY still a Dash-8? If so, I'd probably avoid it just for that reason. Plus like you said, you can drive SFO-MRY if you have to.

Looks like (and I was guessing this) PHL-SFO-MRY gets you more miles - about 300 more thanks to the minimum segment credit for SFO-MRY.
All on 50 seat Canadian Torture Jets.

No, the Mesa Dash 8s go away at the end of the this month, thankfully. Only a few remain.
PHX-MRY appears to be CRJ-200s in tomorrow's and Saturday's schedules.

Ha. I can live with CRJ-200 exit rows just fine. I'm not a fan at all with the noise of the Dash-8s - these are old DH8s, not the quieter -Q400s.

Ah thank you, I'd forgotten about that. I must say it'll be weird seeing actual jets on routes like PHX-FLG/YUM not to mention seeing Gate B1 at PHX with no props lined up outside!
