For some time WN has been advertising nonstop routes HOU to SEA starting June 30. The "Where We Fly" interactive map shows nonstop service from HOU to SEA. When I try to book a flight all I can find are the same ol' same ol' routes. No nonstop flights.

Am I missing something here?

WN 1425, M-F, 10:40AM departure, shows in early July.

I was looking at August. So I guess the nonstop is only effective in July? That's a little odd.

Don't know about "only July." The flight could have started in June, or even May. And rather than ending 31-July, it likely ends during the first two weeks of August.

Similar situation with an AUS-PDX non-stop that was highly touted. I thought about booking it for a September trip during the pre-anniversary sale, but it wasn't there. It's called "seasonal service."

Then, IMHO, they should market it as "seasonal service."

Now I'm curious. Is this SOP for WN? Perhaps I've just never noticed before.

See this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1348660) for discussion of another route where the "where we fly" map shows non-stops for a route where non-stop flights were not yet in service.

The route map is a Flash program written many years ago. It presumably accepts a data file with Non-stop and connecting flight Yes/No values for each city pair. To build in more detail such as seasonal-only designators would require rewriting the Flash program, and I doubt that is a priority...nor should it be given all the other issues.
