Has anyone had any luck calling a cc company and asking that they change the card type in order to not have another credit pull ?

I have a major purchase coming up and would likr to swap my Thank You Card to a 18 month 0% card.

Thanks

YMMV on this, but try logging in to your Citicards online, and look at your balance transfer offers. All my citi cards have a 12 or 15 month 0% APR offer on balance transfers AND new purchases. The fine print shows that if I accept the offer, any new purchases received the 0% APR offer as well, and no balance transfer is required. It's just an option.

As far as converting, I tried to change my old mtvU card a while back and they wouldn't let me. But I know some people have had success.

I see the offer of 0% for one year on balance transfers but don't see anything about purchases. I don't want to select it now as my purchase will be made in November

Just this past week I called to ask about moving credit lines to take advantage of a 0% balance transfer offer. I was told that my credit was excellent and they just needed to do a credit check to put it through. I said whoa hold up as I didn't want any dings on my credit. I said too bad I have all this credit already and can't move any without that step. Well the rep said I can just add a 0% promo to your card and any spend on it for the next 9 months will be at 0% and no fees. Well of course I thanked them profusely and after hanging up I got a call back and the rep said that they had added the same promo to my higher balance card. Saved me a bundle. Might be worth a call or two to ask.
