Alitalia MilleMiglia - Two days to ship a (not so lost) bag?

Grandaughter and I returned TIA-FCO-JFK-MCO yesterday. First two legs on AZ, last on DL. Upon arriving at JFK, we discovered her bag did not arrive. Was told by AZ rep that we would have to wait until we got to MCO to file claim with DL. Arriving in MCO last night, DL baggage rep already had report from AZ stating bag was still at FCO. So, I naturally expected the bag would be shipped today. Nooooo! AZ, in its infinite wisdom, is not shipping it until tomorrow FCO-ORD via AZ and ORD-MCO via AA, arriving in MCO 11 pm tomorrow night--which means I won't get it until Friday. Problem is she is scheduled to leave for home Friday afternoon. So, I'm stuck with going to the airport tomorrow night and trying to coordinate between DL and AA so I can get the bag tomorrow night when it (hopefully) arrives. Thanks AZ!

You could try to make them route the bag to another airport closer to her location. Perhaps it is easier to pick up the bag that way if it arrives after friday afternoon..
