I did a cursory once over the forum and the FAQs but I came up empty. Is it possible to book a hotel for my wife using my points? Apologies if this has been answered ...my search prowess is horrible.

If it's for a paid stay, then it's a different story. If anything, you can put both of your names on the points stay. farmertom Jun 27, 12, 12:59 pm excellent, thanks! cordelli Jun 27, 12, 1:16 pm Yes you can, but you may have to do it over the phone. soccerguy985 Jun 27, 12, 2:13 pm The wife may or may not get your benefits if you are a hilton elite. YMMV. onthemove617 Jun 27, 12, 6:13 pm My husband is Hilton Diamond & I've stayed at the Doubletree & the HGI in NYC w/o him, using his points. I've never had a problem & always received benefits. I did it thru the diamond desk. I think the first time he called the hotel. You need to make sure that your wife's name is on the reservation because they will ask for identification that has to match the reservation. Your Hilton status still will show up & the appropriate benefits will apply. FlyingDoctorwu Jun 27, 12, 6:51 pm To keep things 100% legit the thing to do is to call the DD and request to make a gift booking... that'll make the booking in the persons name... I've had many of the gift bookings I've made receive the diamond benefits but it's a YMMV.... The other option is to do the reservation in your own name and add her name to the reservation, but it's risky if you actually don't plan on staying.... FDW Jillista Jun 27, 12, 7:57 pm I have done this for both family members and friends, always by calling the Diamond number. In each case, they've received the Diamond benefits. Need Jun 28, 12, 7:46 am The wife may or may not get your benefits if you are a hilton elite. YMMV. Hmmm, according to this, benefits are from the person who book the reward room. And my wife always get diamond status when I book a reward room in her name only even though she is not even a HHonors member. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilton-hhonors/1244084-whose-status-determines-benefits.html lsumegan Jul 2, 12, 1:05 am Hmmm, according to this, benefits are from the person who book the reward room. The room is default to the status of the person who reserved the award night, but if person who reserved the night has only silver or gold status, and the person who actually checks in has Diamond, then it is YMMV if you try to get Diamond status. Maybe it is because the hotel doesn't really cross check the name of the guest against the membership level. If they see a diamond member reserved the award stay, then it is treated as diamond shoreline Jul 2, 12, 8:04 pm If I read the thread correctly, it is YMMV if you try to receive the status of the person who actually checks in. If they see a diamond member reserved the award stay, then it is treated as diamond I think when your reservation comes up the hotel can see your status. But, the hotel can, if they wish, honor the benefits. When booking a reward stay for someone else using your points, you need to put the correct user on the reward certificate so they will be able to check in without an issue. |
