I've read reviews and it seems like there is a bus between the station in the hotel. Anybody ever done this?

I have never taken that bus, but I remember having lunch at the hotel.
Very good view of Setonaikai Sea.

40 minutes might be a bit much on a bus. I like the property though.

I can plan my connections then. Does the shuttle fill up? Do you need reservations? Thx for info. It's very helpful.

If the shuttle is full you can catch a local bus mentioned by O Sora which takes a little longer. Timetables here:

From Hiroshima Station (weekday departure times in the first column, weekend and public holiday departure times in the fourth column)

From Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima (weekdays first column, weekend and public holidays second column)

Newbierunnner, is it on their website? Why haven't they uploaded this info? They may be losing considerable amount of possible revenue every day.

Yes. From their Japanese homepage (http://www.princehotels.co.jp/hiroshima/) > 周辺案内 (Location) (http://www.princehotels.co.jp/hiroshima/location/) > アクセス (Access) (http://www.princehotels.co.jp/hiroshima/access/) > 無料シャトルバス (Free shuttle bus) (http://www.princehotels.co.jp/hiroshima/access/info/shuttlebus/) :)

I know you didn't ask, and I think you prefer higher-end hotels than I do, but in Hiroshima, I won't stay anyplace that can't easily be reached on the local tram. Last time, it was the Comfort Hotel - free breakfast, free wi-fi, on-site coin laundry, <2 blocks walk to the Peace Park and right on a tram stop with no changes back to Hiroshima Station. Perfect for me.

I was in Hiroshima for a conference early in June, and the conference organizers offered to book us into the Comfort Hotel Ohtemachi (same neighborhood), so I took them up on the offer. It was in many ways a standard business hotel but with an ample free breakfast, free and dependable wi-fi, and an onsite coin laundry, as abmj-jr says. Not only that, but the price was right. I was very pleased with the organizers' choice. All of us were who accepted their offer of making hotel reservations.

It's also within easy walking distance of the Peace Park and on a direct trolley line to all sorts of things, including the harbor that the ferry to Shikoku leaves from.

In some countries, I would want to pay for a more upscale hotel for reasons of health and safety, but no such worries in Japan.

I appreciate the suggestions. You are correct that I want higher end hotels. But not at the cost of a long bus ride that operates hourly. I am now checking Kobe and Osaka which seem to have holiday inn ANA properties that will be priced more competively. From either city I can use the Shinkansen to get to
Hiroshima and also continue on to Kagoshima and back in one day.

FYI, the only IHG hotels in Kobe and Osaka are the Crowne Plazas.

Thanks. It seems on Japanese language version only. No announcement in Access page in English.
