United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Club/Baggage/ question

I am flying from PHL-SFO-KIX on a business class award ticket booked with US Air miles. However, I only have coach seats from the PHL-SFO leg and I have an overnight layover of 12 hours and 5 minutes.
Can I check my bags through to KIX or do I have to pick them up in SFO?
Can I use the UA lounge in PHL before my flight? I assume I can use the lounge in SFO the next morning. I'm # Gold if that matters.
On the SFO-KIX flight, we are on a 777-200 WW1, is the channel selection really only 9 channels or AVOD? This leg is on 6/30.

I'm not sure about the luggage..you will have to check at PHL and see if they'll tag your bag all the way through. If not, you'll need to retrieve them at SFO.
Yes, you will be able to use the lounge at PHL (if your PHL-SFO flight is on UA metal you can use the UA lounge.. I don't know what US's policies are about lounge access on international tix leaving the next day but on the same itinerary.. UA allows access for its travelers).
As of now SFO-KIX on 6/30 is scheduled to be the old config 777 with recliner seats in biz class and no AVOD..it'll be the 9 channel video on continuous loop.
FYI, call UA and get yourself on the waitlist for first class PHL-SFO...you "paid" for biz/first class the whole way to KIX and if it becomes available (which is quite possible) you'll want to be sure to auto-clear. You will need your UA confirmation number to do this which you can get from US.... assuming PHL-SFO is on UA metal and not US.. if it's US metal you'll have to deal with them.
Edited: the waitlist might not work since you booked this through US. But it's definitely worth continuing to check UA's award space first class for your flight at United.com. Do a dummy booking and click on "fare class" next to the PHL-SFO flight.. if you see any space in the I bucket open up..call US and have them move you to first.

Good to hear about the lounge, bad about the AVOD. I looked at the list of 9 channels and am not too excited about that. At least on the return I'm on a 747.
I'm on UA on the PHL-SFO, I'll ask at check-in about upgrades. Looks like 3 of the 8 seats are open.
Thanks.

I don't think UA will be able to help you with an upgrade at checkin because this is a US award ticket. *A carriers pay each other for space on each others' flights based on what's ticketed. US is only paying UA for a coach seat for you PHL-SFO... so if you want F on that segment you're going to have to get it from US (and you are entitled to because you paid US for it with your miles). Your best course of action is to monitor the inventory frequently at United.com and when I class opens up to call US and have them change you to first class for PHL-SFO. Otherwise you'll almost certainly be in coach on that leg.

This won't work since it is a US ticket.
As a *G the OP should get access to any *G lounges in PHL.

Yeah I realized that after I posted and added an edit to my earlier post..

I guess I'll live in E+.Were you able to get an E+ seat for free? Someone else posted recently that they booked a UA itinerary through US and are not a UA elite and they got an E+ seat for free. If you did get one..congratulations.. they are not supposed to be available free to non UA elites (even *G).

When I booked the award many months ago, I was assigned 8A & 8B.
I didn't ask for it. I looked on the UA website and saw that's where I was.
I wanted to change them to two aisles, but I was afraid to move them since I was pretty sure I'm wasn't supposed to get them, even on a business award ticket.

Are you sure?
If he has status on UA, I think he should be able to get on the upgrade list whenever he is on UA metal, regardless of the ticket stock. Suppose I've never tried it on UA but it worked for me on NW and DL and CO.
Would likely need to use the UA FF# on the ticket though.

This is an award ticket.
In case you care..might be time to update your FT profile.. you've got a couple extinct programs listed there.

Yes. :)
The suggestion was to waitlist for the I inventory in advance on an award ticket. That cannot be done unless one is redeeming UA miles on UA/CM metal.
For revenue tickets the marketing carrier doesn't matter, but this is quite the different beast.

I'm US Gold, dirt status on UA (but have credit card).
I just looked online at my seats and it shows us in 8A and 8B, but when I click on view/change seats, our seats are listed next to our names at the top, but my wife's seat on the seat map doesn't show up with the # and circle. If you know what I mean.
Do you think it's risky to call UA and confirm my seats are there? As of right now, there are no E- seats available, just a few E+'s.
I'd hate to get a problem agent who says I shouldn't be sitting there in the first place.

It's historical. ;)
Got it on the I inventory.
