Decided after our flying the past year using mostly FF redemptions that my husband would not be able to meet Silver status again due to less paid flights.
Very happy he received a very nice letter and invitation to remain on Silver even though he hadn't achieved the credits required.
That is a very good PR exercise noting that someone who has spent a lot of time flying Qantas over many years has not been able to meet requirements.
We had considered trying other airlines (Singapore Airlines) due to our FF points diminishing but this is a nice way to keep us on side.
The only thing I would say after our recent trips in J on the A380 was that I was disappointed that they now seem to have made changes to the config on the aircraft and there appears to be two less WC's in J.
We have Sin-LHR-Sin in J on the A380 next year and they offer two configurations and the one with lesser WC's is ridiculous. Please don't sacrifice basic human necessities - as it is, the loos on a 14 hour flight can end up pretty grim. Getting rid of the self service bar is fine in J as the whole point is service and we can ask for drinks or coffee or nibblies - but the toilets should not be sacrificed.
It was difficult enough waiting to use a loo at times on our long journeys ... particularly with the line-up waiting to get changed into and out of the J pyjamas ... but Qantas please don't stop giving them out ... :)
I'm sure there will be cynical responses but I for one as an average Australian appreciates the gesture.
