Hello,

Does anyone know if there is any lounge in Manchester? I did search but couldn't find any recent info. There was an old thread saying it could be the Servisair lounge or the Escape lounge, but no definitive answer.

Thanks all

Manchester, NH or Manchester, UK?

If the former, definitely not.

Since the OP mentions Servisair and Escape lounges it must be Manchester, UK. @:-)

US Airways' website tells you there's no lounge for US pax in MAN T2. I'm surprised if this is correct but I've only used T1 and T3 in MAN.

Manchester, UK. :)

Thank you, NewbieRunner! Will try to arrive a little later at the airport then if there is no lounge to go to.

Been a bit since I went through MAN (early 2011), but there was a lounge for at least business class passengers. I recall it being near a duty free shop, sorry I don't recall much else.

usairways.com will report lounge access as "not available" unless there's a US Airways Club on site. It doesn't factor in other options (United Clubs, *A, contract lounges) that club members, *G and Envoy pax may have access to.

On my last trips US use the Serviceair lounge. It is after security on a mezzanine level overlooking the gate. On my last visit before a US flight it had cereals, pastries, a toaster, fresh fruit, crisps, cakes and biscuits. There was a decent coffee machine, juice, soft drinks and all the booze you could drink. It is not bad, much better than any US club anyway! I have used it flying J, not sure about *G access. If *G do get in they will probably need an invite so make sure you ask at check in.

I'm flying PHL-MAN later this week, on an award booking (using bmi miles, not US miles) in business. I was wondering whether I was eligible to use any arrival lounge facilities in Manchester? I've done some searching of the forum which imply that Envoy passengers are entitled to use an arrival lounge, but I cannot figure out whether I am in Envoy class or not!

Thanks in advance.

I flew PHL-MAN last fall on a US envoy award ticket. The "arrival lounge" was an interesting experience. I had never flown envoy, so I don't know if this was typical, or if this was just unique to MAN, but I was given some kind of certificate entitling me to an arrival lounge. There was not a lot of detail, and when I got to MAN, I was directed to go to a hotel connected to the airport. I believe it was a Radisson. I still wasn't sure what was going to be at the Radisson, and when I got there, the guy at the front desk told me I was allowed to go into the women's locker room at the gym to take a shower. That's it - there's the "arrival lounge" for you. I believe the certificate implied some kind of food would be provided/compensated, but the hotel shot that down. I still had a two hour wait at the airport before a 4 hour train to my ultimate destination, so a shower was very welcome at that point. (I had started off the trip with a long wait at CLT.) It certainly did not feel like an "envoy-level" service, but nevertheless, it was an...interesting and unique experience.

On the outbound, as of 3 weeks ago Envoy passengers got access to the Servisair lounge which TBH kinda sucks. It's too small, too crowded, and way too noisy plus the staff seems not to spend a lot of time keeping things tidied. Granted I may have just had bad timing or sloppy lounge-mates but having been through there 4 or 5 times over the last 3 years, and having that been the experience every single time, it's enough of a pattern for me. Food and drink offerings are fairly limited too. We've already decided that next time we fly out of MAN we will likely skip the lounge, in favor of the gate that US often uses--- or rather the bar right next to the gate, which has very comfy chairs and an awesome runway view.

On arrival, the Radisson locker room is what you get for free but that Radisson also does proper day-use rooms; we paid about 25 quid to keep the room for 6 hours, which was perfect as we were on our way to check into a sold-out hotel downtown, didn't sleep on the plane and needed a proper bed for a little while. That hotel does not have a day room booking tool on their website but if you call the hotel directly, you can book (and they don't even ask for a credit card number so if you get in late and skip the hotel, you aren't charged). Got my 50k radisson points for that one too :D

TBH I consistently have a hard time lining up arrivals lounge access with US, when flying Envoy, regardless of the destination, and wish there were a more clear process to getting that sorted before I fly.
