Brazil - Any info on Brazilian strike affecting all consulates?

Hi all,
I've seen varying degrees of information about the strike that should affect some/all Brazilian consulates in the USA. Some info says it was a 24 hr strike, some says indefinite. I'm wondering if anyone knows about this?
I have a visa appointment at the SF consulate tomorrow morning. I've received no cancellation notice and there's nothing special on their voice mail system. They are not picking up though for me to be able to find out if they are closed or not. I'm trying to assess the likelihood that I will be able to get my visa processed and still take my trip. Otherwise, I suppose I will need to look into getting my tickets changed.
Anyone have any ideas (say from a previous strike) or any other information?

Just wanted to respond to my own question..they are in fact open (at least the SF one is) but operating slower than usual in terms of visa turn around times.
I was quoted approximately 12 business days instead of 5 for my visa.

For more discussion, I'll move this to the dedicated forum on Destinations->Brazil. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

Notice about working again despite a strike appeared on the site for the NY consulate. Didn't say the strike/industrial action was resolved, just that visas were being processed. Sounds like turnaround times could be longer for a while. Such strikes and slowdowns reguarly occur in Brazil.

I'm reading today that it's over.

Where did you read it? I'd like to read it (my wife's Brazilian, we spend time there and we have friends who travel back and forth).

According to the online visa checker, https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/consultarVisto.do?lang=eng our apps arrived on 9 July, still waiting for further action. We sent them to Sydney. There must be a huge backlog but just wondering what all they have to do to process a standard tourist visa. This is our 2nd trip to Brazil and they will see the 2007 visa in our Aussie passports.

I just picked up our Visa from the Brazilian Consulate in Boston after dropping the application off last Wednesday. As promised a 6 business day turn-around.

The article mentions cargo ports only. Are you planning to ship/receive cargo?
There is no mention anywhere online (as yet), or by rumor, of any job action effecting the international airports in Brazil.

I just got a Tourist Visa from the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles. My paperwork was received at the Consulate on 6/29/12 and told I would have it 7/19/12. I guess if you pay for faster processing it maybe shorter. I was told it is taking three to four weeks now. The good new you do not have to travel within 90 day when you get it. It also good for 10 years.
