bmi diamond club - Purchasing diamond club miles cheaper than Avios

I need to build up mileage avios now that I am baec to take advantage of Amex 241 voucher - is it really the case that diamond club miles 20 k pllus bonus are half the price of avios (£255 v£ 400 to purchase max allowed). Will I be able to transfer diamond club miles purchased to avios and when will I no longer be able to purchase bmi miles?

You can transfer all Diamond Club miles (regardless of how you got them) when the exchange tool is made available on July 3.

You will no longer be able to buy Diamond Club miles when:
- you have bought 24,000 in a calendar year - then you must wait til the next calendar year
- Diamond Club ceases to exist

So you could buy the max BA miles, then max out your BMI miles, then July 4th, you transfer your new BMI miles to your Avios account.

Actually, buy the BD miles. Then have someone gift you the max miles too.. then transfer it over to AVIOS is much better value than buying AVIOS.

Thanks for the replies. I've got the BMI credit card and so has my DH who also has a ff account. Think I'll max out on both accounts and transfer the milesover to avios - m uch better value!

To make it more complicated, why not have a household account? Have all the household members buy/gift and then consolidate them to one account.
