Other Hotel Programs - Cheapest Shangri-La in the world?

Hi,
I'm a big fan of the Shangri-La hotel chain. I've used it for my stays all over the world and have experienced a very significant price difference for the same service (which is perfectionism, of course ;)) at different locations.
Up until now, I used the Shangri-La as a means to and end, as I needed to stay somewhere during my trips. However, now I'm up for some pure luxury and am planning a month-long vacation at any Shangri-La hotel, meaning that the stay is the end in itself. Therefore, the location does not matter to me and price is the only remaining factor necessary to take into account when deciding where my stay is going to be.
Does any of you happen to know where the cheapest Shangri-La hotel in the world is located?
Thanks.

Hi,

Another interesting post from you after this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travelbuzz/1351066-being-dr-f-legal.html one ;).
I trust that most people discussing on this luxury hotels forum will agree with me that Shangri-La is not a luxury brand, hence this discussion does not belong here.

Some can be considered true luxury (Tokyo?).
"Great deal luxury hotels" would be a nice thread - but I guess we already have it under the "crisis discounts" thread.

Shangri-la Tokyo and Shangri-la Paris are indisputably luxury hotels.
Others like S-L Singapore Valley Wing and Hong Kong Island Shangri-la certainly are upscale properties, if not quite top tier luxury.
Many other S-L properties are solid four star hotels, and often are among the best choices in locations that lack true high-end hotels.

I like Shangri-La. They do some little things well, better than other five-star chains. I stayed at the Chiang Mai location for around $120; I am sure that you can find many in smaller mainland China locations for less. Or the Dubai and Abu Dhabi properties, which are both beautiful hotels, come in close to this range over the summer.

I would also rate Shangri-La as a five-star chain, not luxury, though their top properties compete with luxury chains. Unfortunately, it's not very well represented on FlyerTalk for whatever reason. I would like to see a dedicated forum, especially now that it has a quite decent loyalty program.

If you are planning on spending a month anywhere I cannot see how location would not matter unless you are planning never to leave the hotel. There must be a happy medium between cost and location somewhere in the Shangri La roster.
Besides Paris and Tokyo I would also put the Shangri La Vancouver squarely in the luxury field.

I would think Shangri-la KUL would be the cheapest. I tend to lump Shang with Sheraton and Hilton and perfectly exceptable if there is no other choice but nothing to get too excited about. Most of us here are hotel snobs!

I'm a bit puzzled by this thread. It doesn't ask which property is the cheapest luxury Shangri-La, for example, so I am unsure whether it belongs in this forum. Having once naively picked the cheapest room at an unnamed Shangri-La and then immediately having to throw money at the problem to get a tolerable room, it's clear to me that Shang is not all luxury.
I'm going to temporarily lock this thread while we discuss what to do with it.
Thanks

The cheapest I've ever stayed at was in BKK, via Priceline, for $55 a night.
