Has anyone ever experienced an upgrade at the Marriott Norfolk Waterfront as a gold? I've got a 1 king booked and didn't know if anyone ever experienced any further upgrades there.

the way the perks are now stated they'll catch ya with the cavaet unless you just get lucky or find a friendly FDA..........

For Gold Elite members the best way is up! So every time you check in, we'll do our best to upgrade you to a premium room - at no additional charge – for your entire stay. Upgrades may include rooms with desirable views, rooms on high floors, corner rooms, rooms with special amenities, rooms on Executive Floors, or suites, subject to availability identified by each hotel.

I stay there 4x a year for 2 days each on business; as a plat for 2 years, and a gold this year, I've always gotten a nice corner king room without asking, rather than a 'standard room'.

It's a nice hotel - decent (although strangely laid out) lounge, as you'll see.

Well, the same could be said for Plats as well. It's just standard language. Anecdotal reports probably matter more.

To the OP - if your stay encompasses a weekend, can you post in the exec lounge sticky if the lounge is open on the weekends; if not, do they offer brekkie coupons; if closed, if it's key accessible for sodas; is there an i-net terminal? Even if your stay doesn't encompass a weekend, if you stay there could you ask & report in the lounge thread? Thx!

Cheers.

I certainly will report on lounge status. Will be very interested if they offer free breakfast or not on the weekend. I've gotten it at Marriott Suites @ Old Scottsdale, but this is my first east-coast trip to a F/S Marriott (I've found the southern marriotts have been a bit more liberal with free breakfast than the ones up north)
