I am planning to fly HKG-PEK-KIX, I have 2 and a half hours in PEK.
Lately, I have been checking the flight punctuality for HKG-PEK, but my flight is heavily delayed by 2-5 hours.
What is the normal procedure for Air China, if the first flight is delayed and a passenger misses a connection flight? In case the departure from Hong Kong is heavily delayed and it is 100 pct. sure that I will miss flight from PEK to KIX, do i still need fly to PEK and overnight? (as my flight from PEK is the last flight to KIX from PEK on that day) Or they might rebook to other Star Alliance flight from HKG to KIX?
I will fly in ECO, and I have *G-status.
have the same problem
ca flights appear to be delayed 3-5 hours. fearing to loose my connex to fra
had it in a winter nightmare same route as you 2 years ago.
they do nothing. In Hkg they do not even rebook you on earlier on time flights. they send you to beijing where you are in even worse hands. only ones that could rebook you on other airlines or flights are in ticketing outside of security area. BUT without visa they do not let you go there.
transfer desk is useless
lets see let me know how you dealt with it

Just a note: HKG-PEK is delayed more frequently this week/month due to bad weather in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Whenever delays are announced ex-HKG on CA IME, it's usually after boarding (which is on-time) so everyone remains onboard for 1-2 hours. They won't let you off unless it's an emergency, otherwise it'll be a logistical nightmare to get everyone back onboard again.
They'll probably fly you on your original routing (HKG-PEK-KIX) in the above circumstances and if you misconnect, they'll put you in a hotel. On the other hand, if the delay is announced prior to boarding (i.e. at check-in), they might rebook you onto a nonstop HKG-KIX flight.

Will they pay for a hotel if it's a weather or ATC delay? *Gold might help, but I'm not confident.
Note that OP can do visa free transit at PEK if it's allowed for his/her nationality in order to get land side to the ticketing desks (and a hotel).

Thanks for info, guys.
Toyotaboy95: Good to know that heavy delays lately are caused by bad weather in HKG and PEK....
Will think about it... Still a possibility to cancel or rebook for an affordable fee..
And I will keep you informed....

I've been doing quite a bit of PEK/SHA-HKG (+vv) recently, and the delay situation isn't that bad. Unless there's some sort of monsoon in HK, +30 minutes is the norm.
That having been said, I would never dream of connecting in PEK/SHA between HKG and KIX, unless I wanted to spend some time (24 hours) in China.

Just a small update.
Cancelled my CA-flights with a fee. And booked on CX now.
Had an important private engagement in Osaka, so I cannot risk that my arrival will be the day after. The booking class for my CA-ticket was categorised as 25 pct. point earning in SK, so I found that point earning was not good enough to risk.
