Hilton HHonors - 2 guests in 1 room: with me being HH gold, will my colleague also receive free wifi?

Hi!

I looked in the FAQs but couldn't find the answer: I was wondering if I (new HH Gold) book a room for two guests (via 3rd party), do we both receive free wifi? That is, can we each have our laptops open and surf separately from each other?

My understanding is that we both receive complimentary breakfast, correct? (and a potential room upgrade but no points)

Thanks a lot!

Best,
petzpanz

It depends on the hotel and how they charge, but in most cases, no it's one device per room no matter how many people are in the room.

At check in, I tell the front desk that I have three items that need wifi: tablet, phone, and laptop. No one has denied me.

That sounds like a good idea! ^ Hadn't thought about that. Thanks!

I had no issues with that either. They either give you enough number of codes, or you can simultaneously login with your user id and password, which are usually your room number and surname, from multiple devices.

My experience as well multiple locations. With todays connected society packing multiple devices, it is becoming more of the norm than the exception.

At check-in at the Prague Hilton last month, I was handed a code card and told the code was good for up to five devices.

Bring a portable router or a wifi hotspot. I bring my old HTC and use that to connect to the hotel wireless, then allow my ipad & laptop to connect to the wifi hotspot.

Similarly, if the only give you one breakfast cert, you can always ask the desk nicely for an extra to give to your companion. Ymmv

The last 4 UK Hiltons I have stayed in now ask you to put your last name and room number on a web signup page and grant access to Gold/Diamond members on that basis.

At these last 4 hotels I have been able to use this method to log three devices in at any one time.

Two weeks ago at the Conrad Indianapolis, I forgot to ask at check-in regarding multiple devices...

I logged into each device (I had two) and two internet charges were billed to my room for the one-night stay. Both were removed automatically at check-out without any request from me.

Likewise, I've never had an issue with this and like others, I travel with iPhone, iPad and laptop. I have had properties specifically tell me that access was limited to 2 devices, others require login using last name and room number, others provide a single hotel-wide internet code that was good until a certain date and time and worked on an unlimited number of devices, etc. OP, not sure that there is a single answer to your question but I would agree with others that the property is likey to work with you (especially if you tell them that YOU would like access via more than a single device).

Good luck!

We are family of four. On this trip we've been able to log on two iPads and two phones in Embassy Suites Miami Airport, Conrad New York and Doubletree Times Square with my HH number.

I travel regularly at hilton properties, sometimes they only give you one code, sometimes they forget to even give you a slip. I just choose and pay the allotted fee on the screen. If i have more than one device and codes don't work i just go ahead put in my room number and pay. I've done this at least 30+ times. Not once have I been told to pay for the additional devices, they just net them off the bill if they do appear there.

Everyone knows in a well connected society that's how things work. Sometimes if I get a slip with a code, I'll give it to my colleague to save... only once was I complained at - at the Hilton Madrid Airport, saying i should have used the voucher provided. I told the front desk checkout agent, well you should have given it to me - usually they do. That hotel really sucks by the way, never staying there again.

The 3 Hilton properties I've been to in the last couple weeks -- a Garden Inn, a Doubletree, and a Hampton -- all used the "last name/room number" login method, and all worked fine with multiple devices at the same time.

Eh. I don't know where you've been travelling. That used to be the "official policy" at the turn of the century. But I dare you to find a Hilton propert that'll actually try to enforce that.

There are plenty of threads here from people who have been charged for multiple devices. We all must be traveling to the same turn of the century properties, not limited to Hiltons.

So these people who said they were charged by devce, are what, making it up?
