Hello - I'm leaving for Europe next week and I went online at http://www.swisstravelsystem.com to buy the pass and I just assumed it was an online voucher or printout - however, when I go through the process it starts talking about "shipping".
What exactly are they shipping ?? because there is precious little in the way of explanation about what exactly the physical form of the pass actually is. Obviously I don't want to be surprised AFTER the point where I provide my credit card number!
Oh, also, does the http://www.raileurope.com website charge foreign transaction currency conversion fees for using a credit card? It shows prices in US$ but I couldn't determine if the price is charged in CHF or EUR.

The Swiss Pass is a few pages of documents on ticket stock. However, I believe the pass has to be on official stock so the train staff can see that it's authentic and valid. Perhaps surprisingly, there isn't a barcoding system used with the passes to let them scan and validate passes printed out at home.

Did you buy a consecutive day pass or a flexpass (valid for a specific number of days in a one month period)--if it is a FP, then there will be blank lines to enter the date you are opting for usage.
In any event, you will have to have the pass validated (at a ticket office).
PS: The Swiss Passes are valid on several mountain railways, which the Eurail product is NOT.

They are physical tickets and I suspect there may not be enough time for shipping. One of Swiss Rail's ticket agents offers the option of collecting at your arrival Swiss airport and also charge in US$ if you wish with no fees. Have a look at www.swisspasses.com Good luck!

Are you flying into Switzerland, if so, I'd just buy your Swiss Rail Pass on arrival at one of the major train stations. It's a very simple process, you will need to show your passport when you purchase the Swiss Rail Pass.
