US Airways Dividend Miles - Confused about expiration date of preferred

I just reached Silver in June due to 35 segments, and will probably hit the next level before the end of the year based on segments again. I'm confused about when that status will expire though - Will I have no status on March 1, 2013 because it only lasts through February, or will it last through February of 2014?

I've looked at the DM website, and read posts here, and have seen explanations both ways. What really happens and when?

You earned status in 2012 so you should have it through Feb. 2014.

You earned status in 2012 so you should have it through Feb. 2014.

Correct... OP qualified "the long way" (BIS miles or segments) - therefore you get status for the remainder of this program year (until 2/2013) and all of next program year (3/2013 - 2/2014). DM will send you another Silver card in the mail with a 2/28/14 expiration date early next year.

It's preferreds who qualify via shortcuts (such as Trial Preferred, Buy-ups, etc...) or who are gifted status from a Platinum or Chairman's that only get status through the remainder of the current program year.
