I'm flying round trip MNL-HKG-YVR this sept on an award booking (X), but due to the aircraft change brought by CX latest cost cutting measures, I ended up 74A on all sectors goin to YVR and 77W on all sectors goin back.

Though I'm already very familiar of CX's 74A and 77D seat configurations, having flown 2 round trips MNL-JFK and 1 MNL-HND using all 74A on the first sector then 77D on the 2nd long sector with CX last year.

But this sept is the first time I will try the 77W new seat layout.

The question is, which aircraft will you still prefer for the long haul? An exit row of 74A or an exit row of 77W, both on Y.

The exit row of 74A is just perfect as there is so much room in front of you, but I know the drawback here is the old clamshell Y seat that most of us hate coz it hurts the lower back.

The 77W has the new Y seat that is getting good reviews here.. but how exactly is the emergency exit row given the new seat layouts? Of course, it is given that 777's has a smaller leg room in the emergency exit row than the jumbo 747's.

So for those who have already taken 77W in Y, which aircraft will you still prefer on long haul flights on exit row, the classic 74A or the new 77W?

I just want to know which ones will give me better experience, goin to YVR or goin back...that is if I didn't get lucky to be op up'ed to either J or Y+ as an MPC SL...which is unlikely due to the fact that goin there it is a high capacity 74A, and goin back is a diamond elite heavy 77W coming from JFK.

I prefer the 77W always, but that's my personal preference.
