Swiss International Airlines - New chocolate distribution policy?

I was on the flight to London yesterday and toward the end when the cabin crew came through to hand out the chocolates - they did exactly that: individually take one bar from the basket and hand it to each passenger.

Up to now, you could take several (mine go to my children).

New policy? For speed/efficiency or economizing?

I experienced that on a few occasions too.

A member of the crew told me it can occur when they are not sure to have enough chocolates bars for everybody as some passengers take 2 or 3. This way they are sure everyone, even at the back of the plane, gets one. I flew with LX today and the chocolate distribution was standard.

I don't like the white variety and usually decline the offer but am often forced to take a few. On a recent flight I explained that I didn't want any but a very friendly FA gave me a paper bag as I left the plane. I thought perhaps he'd found a stash of red chocolate or maybe some left-over chocolate from C. :) Imagine my disappointment when I opened the bag in the lounge to find chocolate in white wrappers. :(

Poor fellow. I cannot image how disappointed and sad you must have been after an attentive and friendly FA puts some chocaolate especially for you in a paper bag and remembered you well enough to hand it over to you. AND IT WAS THE WRONG KIND! How dare she.

Don't worry! The chocolate wasn't wasted. Fellow FTers (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/communitybuzz/1227800-franconian-do-ii-beer-do-nue-june-8-10-2012-a.html) devoured it all in no time at all. :D

However, I still have two pieces I picked up on the way back. :o

I contrast your experience with my flight to London yesterday -- they lady happily allowed me 4 of them (!) and I saw many people grabbing more than one.

On my recent few long haul's they had Minor chocolate bars rather than the distinct swiss ones... no more Swiss branded Schoggi on Longhaul?

In my experience they distribute Lindt Pralines in longhaul. I have never seen the white Swiss chocolate that is served on short haul.

The amount I take varies depending on the price of my ticket :D.

It makes all the sense in the world if it is to ensure everyone gets one.

But we're on step closer to the famous chocolate handed out per status thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/swiss-international-airlines/1200614-lx-hand-out-chocolate-according-status-april-1st-2011-a.html) :D;)

When I boarded at LCY 2 weeks ago, the basket was on the crew area near the door, and passengers took one (or more) as boarding. And then they were distributed again in flight :)

Back in March I flew ZRH-BUD in C. There were still some red ones in the basket and I commented on that. The FA ended up handing me all the reds. Plus some whites so I "could compare". I got a total of 11 (eleven) pieces.

I've never seen chocolate "handed out"; but when offered, I usually only take a single bar, unless they "ask" me to take a few more (I've seen people who grabbed at the chocolates with both hands simultaneously to get as many as possible) - I don't know, but I feel greedy if I take more than one.

On the contrary, the chocolate distribution often happens exactly when I'm visiting the lav. Sometimes, they don't notice and I end up without chocolate. Sometimes, they notice and come back with the basket just for me. And in one special case I came back from the lav just to find 4 (!) chocolates already at my seat.

Are Geneva flights more generous with LX chocolates than the ZRH flights?

I haven't gone via GVA in ages. I have 4 intra-Europe LX flights this week via GVA both times.

I hope I can get more than one chocolate per flight. Also I hope for good weather and beautiful views and nice LX lounges at GVA airport to moose around.

I will also take advantage of my GVA layover on the way back to go chocolate shopping at Migros and other places in the airport.

:)

I don't see why they would be seeing that all GVA flights are operated by ZRH based crews.

I have unfortunately not come across any red ones for months ;-( In respect of the white stuff, I couldn't care less ...
