Surprised nobody has posted about this phone yet. Anybody here order or have a Samsung Galaxy S3? I pre-ordered one from Verizon which means I have to wait about 2 weeks :( The Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T versions are already shipping. I'll be coming from an AT&T iPhone 4 so needless to say I'm expecting a big difference in performance. I'm looking forward to the larger screen and 4G LTE speeds which are pretty addictive (I have an iPad 3 on Verizon.) I thought about getting a Galaxy Nexus late last year but I'm glad I waited for the S3.

My cousin purchased an SGS3 here in Thailand on June 8 for 21,900 THB; I bought her old SGS2 to replace my SGS1 (Captivate). The SGS3 is amazing, I have played with it a few times. Physically it is only a fraction larger than the SGN(exus) and SGS2. I considered an SGN but the SGS2 is much better for me. The display is simply amazing and 3G speeds here average 7 Mbps-Down/4 Mbps-Up (HSPA+/850 MHz/DTAC). Battery life seems to be better than either the SGS1 or SGS2. Note that this model uses a micro-SIM. There aren't a lot of accessories available yet but she did find a nice ROCK case.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry8700c: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.0.4; Incredible 2 Build/IMM76I) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.133 Mobile Safari/535.19)
I got mine last week in London. Its amazing. I'm a huge fan. The big screen has greatly improving my typing accuracy rate to well above my old blackberry rate making it incredibly useful for me.

I've had mine for three weeks now and, after the iPhone 3GS, it really is amazing. The screen and the responsiveness of the phone is excellent and in terms of available apps, I'm missing nothing though I note on Android, high performance games are by no means guaranteed to work due to the plethora of chip sets used.
The Samsung's soft keyboard that comes with the phone is not good. I recommend downloading Swiftkey X (you can also get the plain old Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard which is reputed to be very good). Also, if you're used to HTC Sense (I also have a Wildfire S), I'd day TouchWiz isn't anything like as good (and I really don't like the Accuweather widget).
The battery is replaceable and excellent. After a day of nattering, texting, emailing, internetting, facebooking, twittering, readin books in the Kindle app and catching up on the papers, I usually have over 40% showing before I stick it on charge at bedtime. I reckon a more conservative user would get two days out of this phone. But then again, if you're that type of conservative user, I probably wouldn't recommend the phone.....
Downsides to the phone? Its size makes it a poor phone to use one handed and Samsung's s.Voice is nothing like as polished as Siri (though sill has very clever moments IMHO). That said, friends have reported s.Voice useful when in the car (holding a mobile phone while driving is illegal in Blighty).
Edit: I understand the US version of the S3 does not have the quad core chip set of the international version. Instead, it has a more advanced dual core chip and twice the RAM memory. From what I've read, performance is near as damnit identical.

I switched from iPhone and love it. It's currently $684 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00812YWXU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=someiwritstuf-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00812YWXU), which isn't the cheapest phone in the whole, but I'd still recommend. I also don't believe in buying on credit, and if you work out your total plans costs over two years it worked out cheaper to buy outright anyway.
As a frequent traveller, having the replacement battery is the biggest bonus for me over the iPhone.

Yep, the way the market has evolved, it always pays to look at the total cost of ownership and sometimes best to buy the phone outright on a plan that suits you.

Beware, as far as I can tell, the battery isn't too widely available at the moment. There may be a wait.

received my phone last thursday and been playing around with it. compared to the G1, it's a night and day difference. i rooted it yesterday so i can add the Ad blocker and titanium backup and it works flawlessly.
planning on exploring all the options over the course of this week!
I have the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE and I'm really happy with that. Any reason to switch to the S3? Reading the reviews, I don't see anything I'm missing, except a replaceable battery (which would be nice, but it's not a dealbreaker).

On the hardware side it's probably a wash, they both have their pluses and minuses. Most of the complaints of the EVO 4G LTE and HTC One X are related to stock HTC Sense not being as good as stock Touchwiz on the S3. There's also an issue with HTC Sense aggressively closing apps in the background to preserve memory. If you're willing to root and put a custom ROM on them it's sort of a non-issue. Otherwise, you could go demo an S3 in the store (whenever they arrive) and see if you prefer Touchwiz.
