Le Club Accorhotels - Sofitel La Defense

Had a good recent stay at the above.
As a Silver Accor, I received a free drink for two. The bar man offered champagne. After I advised him that it was my birthday (really!) he gave my colleague and me, glasses of L-P Rose, which was quite a few EURs more than the standard champagne. Around EUR45 for two. ^
My comments here reflect the quality service (post#55):

For example, when my door card would not access the gym, the receptionist came up with me to the gym to make sure it would work. Actually, I was looking for any excuse not to go to the gym, but she obviously took one look at me and thought it was necessary! :D

Am I missing something? Why the link to the Hilton thread?

Pasted from the thread for ease of reference:
"Have just spent 5 nights this week at the Hilton La Defense and compare to my 5 nights last week at the Sofitel La Defense.
Hilton Pros
Generally, larger rooms.
Wider breakfast selection at the buffet, which was accesible compared to the Sofitel
Much larger gym
Negatives
Most staff are adequate, but lack warmth and a positive attitude (a feeling I had last year also). Sofitel staff are great!
No BBC1 or BBC2 - I can only watch BBC World for so long!
Longer walk to some great restaurants in Neuilly
Hilton Points are less valuable, it appears to me, than Accor points, when I redeem for BA Avios!
Less sophisticated atmosphere "

Thank you TF. Interesting comparison between the two brands.
I am not sure about converting Accor points to Avios though. 2000 Accor points can be exchanged for a 40 euro voucher, so 4000 Accor points would have a value at hotels in the accor group of some 80 euros.
The rate of exchange is 4000 accor points for 2000 avios, which values 1000 avios at the equivalent of 40 euros.
Of course there are some restrictions on how the accor vouchers can be used, but to my mind the accor vouchers do seem to offer better value (for me anyway).

You're right: there is no good reason to convert Accor points to Avios via BA. ;)

I am obviously missing something here!
Is there another way?

There's another IAG airline with a vastly better conversion rate. @:-)

Qantas points? Can we convert Qantas points to BA Avios? Thanks!

No (and BA sold their equity stake in QF long before IAG was formed). I've just answered your question in one of the two other threads you asked it in. ;)
