Trip Reports - UK's Opening of Parliament - Queen's Procession

While in London during early May, we were fortunate enough to be there for the opening of Parliament. The opening involves the Monarch's speech inside Parliament. Nice trip report with postcard worthy photos of Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip. Love the little trumpeting cherubs on the roof of the carriage ^

Also enjoyed the history lesson about the tradition of taking a member of the House of Commons as a "hostage"... had no idea about this before reading your post. Any idea who this year's hostage was?

From a google search its usually a government whip and this year it was Mark Francois who went to buckingham as the hostage. Now that I now this, I'll update my entry! :)
