Thank you for the heads up.
Too bad these negative equipment changes still happen, but hopefully these 747 all series will soon be retrofit .
Hopefully .

The old 747 configuration is showing in the GDS seat maps displays on those flights.

Looking at TG brochure (time table), they have 4 different 744 versions. That is fun.

I was scheduled to fly TG924 BKK-MUC yesterday, connecting the following day on LH MUC-FRA-IAD in F (UA award). About 24hrs prior to departure, seatmap changed to reflect an old-style 747. The nonstop to FRA (TG922) was showing F0 and a full seatmap. United showed F award availability on the daytime LHR flight (TG910) but after 40 minutes on hold UA agents were unable/unwilling to make a flight change inside 24hrs.
When I arrived at TG's BKK Royal First check-in, the agents apologized and offered to switch me onto the nonstop FRA flight (TG922) in F due to the equipment swap! ^ I'm not sure if they were protecting availability on this flight just for me - or if someone had cancelled within the previous hour. Excellent ground service in BKK and probably the best inflight service I've received in the past year (including on SQ, CX, NH, JL). Also, more time to enjoy the FCT the following morning! So - at least for me - the MUC 747 equipment swaps don't always have a sad ending. This was also my first time flying long-haul TG - I was very impressed overall!

Expertflyer is a great resource, also if you have access to a GDS like AMADEUS it will work too.
Otherwise, for day-of-departure information you can try flight24.com and search by flight number, which will reveal registration. For example, here is TG920 BKK-FRA, today operated by HS-TGT, a current-generation F bird:

Quick question: Which 744s (registrations would be perfect) have the old F and which ones the new F?
We (gf and myself) are looking to get on the BKK-MUC flight sometimes during the week of Jan 28, 2013 and obviously, we'd prefer the new F.
Thanks in advance!

I thought I heard that all the 747 was re-configured to new F and C. But yesterday an email came my way saying that TG had changed the aircraft for my upcomming BKK-HKG flight to the old version.
Anybody know what the status is on the re-configuration of the 747's?

"TG reveals brand new F suites" - thread says:
TG A,B,F,G,Y,Z will get new F (and already have received new C and Y (?)).
4 birds (with current F, old (?) Y and current (?) C) will leave the fleet.
The remaining 10 747 v3 with current F,C (and at least 6 of them with new Y) will stay as they are.

MUC route is currently swapping to old A/C quite frequently
30.8 BKK-ZRH. Booked in C so for me the equipment swap from A346 is not a big deal. Hey, on this day I'm booked on the flight back, ZRH-BKK...what a coincidence :)
Well, but so far it looks like TG changed to one of the newer B747 according to the seatmap. Hope it stays this way, First would be a bummer if not :o
