We are heading to French Polynesia soon for our anniversary and I was very interested in the current promotion "The world half off". On the interconti.com website they have a list of all the properties participating in the promotion including an approximate price in US$ here (http://www.intercontinental.com/halfoff/rates.shtml#asiapacific). On the list you'll find properties on Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. I was very excited until I found out that in fact only the Tahiti property showed availability for this promotional offer. Neither Moorea nor Bora Bora had any single day available during the promotion. A quick call to the property revealed that they are not aware that they participate in this offer!
Based on the fact that the IC on Tahiti is participating I can only hope that it was a mistake and simply means that the rates haven't been loaded onto their system yet. I already sent an e-mail to IC Hotels but didn't get a reply so far as to what went wrong. I know that French Polynesia has its own rules sometimes when it comes to belonging to a certain hotel chain (let's think Sheraton Bora Bora etc.) but in this case it clearly seems to be a mistake with loading the rate as the marketing people obviously got together and negotiated those special rates with the corresponding properties beforehand.
Anyone had similar experiences with other properties? Or any suggestions who to contact to get a quick response and hopefully solve the problem? How about getting 6CC involved in this? Would they have more "influence" dealing with those issues?
