Both on the 747.

Nice thing about the TG flight is that it arrives before the OZ flight.... Could make customs a bit easier at LAX.

Which would be the better flight?

I just checked the schedule for June and July and I don't see a TG 744 on this route. All I am seeing is a 2 class 772/773.

What month are you flying?

Next year.

Next year.

Yes, I see it only on the Thai site (not on KVS).

Back to your original question ....

If you are getting the new TG F seat, I would take TG over OZ.

In either case you should have a nice experience.

Next year.

That is more than 6 months out, I would be hesitated to book something especially on TG. TG is notoriously love to change plane type frequently no matter long haul or short haul, what if you book as 744 with F now and by next year it changes back to 2 class 777 ?

At least OZ has more in consistency.

It was interesting when I first looked at it. All of the online sources (ANA, etc) pointed to it being a 2 class 772/773.

Only TG had it as a 744, excpet Saturday when it changes back to a 2 class 772/773.

Then later yesterday, it showed up as a 744 on ANA, KVS, etc. I assumed a recent equipmwent change by TG.

Could TG be redeploying 744s as they get 388s?

Very good point! I think I'll therefore stick with OZ!

OZ's cabin crew in F are among the very best out there. But do make an effort to accommodate their usually very poor English -- who cares though as service with their genuine heart and smiles is universal in any language. For just a hint of how you will be served on board .. watch carefully when they present and serve your pre-departure beverage .. it's a complete ceremony right down to ensuring that the cocktail napkin for your nuts is perfectly aligned with the dish. The food offerings are almost as good as ANA. Thai F cabin crew can be hit and miss and definitely the food will be far worse than OZ.

100% yes on redeploying. Thai has said so on their website.

Last I looked, it was the two class plane, which, unfortunately is only angled lie flat.

It doesn't change to the 744 until well into 2013.

Unless a fabulous massage and great ground experience departing BKK is very important to you, I would fly OZ F.

Service and wines were fantastic. Food was similar but OZ still has the edge.

If you could have OZ in flight service and catering with TG ground service it would be the perfect flight.

Is there a possibility that if booked on TG and then they drop F, you could be switched over to OZ?

Both on the 747.

You don't have Global Entry? Yesterday at LAX TBIT, there were wide body arrivals from ICN (3x, including KE 380), NRT (at least 2x), HKG, PPT and some others - all around the same time. They've fixed up the arrivals area, but crowds like that can still overwhelm the facilities.

I agree - if you fly outside the USA - even once a year - Global Entry can be a huge time saver.

I fly a lot, so I see the line at customs about 20 times a year at various airports in the USA...

About 50% of the time - little to no line
About 25% of the time - a line of 15-30 minutes
About 15% of the time - a line of 30-60 minutes
About 10% of the time - a line well above 60 minutes. Missed connections. I have seen it back into the hallway with waits of 2-3 hours.

+1

I don't fly internationally as much as you.

But over the last three years, I have made connections twice that I would have missed without GE.

When arriving directly home (ORD), I am always out of the international arrivals area way ahead of all of my non-GE coworkers.

GE has saved me over 30 hours of time in three years, 3 or 4 international trips a year. A bargain at $100.
