Air New Zealand Air Points - Upgrading

I have an Airpoints upgrade in for my AKL-LAX leg on Sunday to Premium Economy. I just checked ExpertFlyer and saw there are 16 Biz class, and 7 PE seats open currently. Are my chances half decent (being jade) at all with that amount of seats open? Are there typically a decent amount of pax moving from PE to biz?
Not getting my hopes up, but would be ecstatic to get out of economy.

If EF is correct, A fare bucket counts u/g to PE - tends to be 0 most of the time and seems to be easier to u/g into BP.
NZ2 and NZ6 both show R0 A0 and Z2/4;
NZ4 is listed and shows R5 Z2 so would be your best bet.
This route tends to be hard to get an upgrade, especially with Jade status, but it really depends on how many have requested u/g out of PE - can be quite unpredictable.
Have a safe flight!

Thank you, I'm on NZ6. There are more PE and Biz seats open now than last week. I have heard that this is a particularly heavy upgrade route, so hopefully I get lucky!

Your flight is also showing Y0 which means it is quite possibly oversold in economy and they will need to clear upgrades/opup people from Y to U and from U to C.
As RandyNZ implies, it is better to look at the 'available for sale' figures in ExpertFlyer than the seat maps, if you want to gauge availability. This is because some pax don't reserve seats while others are blocked by the airline (and in NZ's case these don't show as X's in the seat map, they show as occupied). Your flight is a good example as there are only two premium economy seats left for sale "U2" showing in Expertflyer, but 7 seats unoccupied in the premium economy seat map.
I think you have a reasonable chance. I've even been op-uped (no upgrade request) on the same route with similar availability figures showing before... but of course there are many variables, including how many others have requested upgrades.

NZ6/5 tends to have a lower volume of premium traffic than NZ2/1. In fact I have deliberately chosen to change flights at LAX when going AKL-LAX-LHR for that reason, as I have been more likely to get an upgrade on NZ6/5 than NZ2/1 on the AKL-LAX sector (never been denied yet, but then I've been Gold or Gold Elite for over a decade).
It is a heavy upgrade route in any case, and you will be near the bottom of the queue (below those with status or Koru membership, but above those travelling in pairs or groups).

Negative. Couldn't get a Twin Seat either. They said the flight was completely full. Oh well, I'm short so economy isn't too terrible for me.
