Thinking of going to Costa Rica this Thanksgiving for a week to 10 days.

Does anybody have any hotel suggestion? I'm probably going with one or two more persons, so one room per night is good enough.

I have >150K points on Starwoods and ~70K on Hilton. I know Starwoods doesn't really have much there. Hilton seems to have 2 all-inclusive hotels there, but it's like 50K points / night at one hotel and 70K / night on the other...

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

We did 10 days in Costa Rica last Thanksgiving. We bagged using our Hilton points and opted for the local hotels. We spent most of the trip at Punta Islita and the last three days at their sister resort El Silencio. All in all, it was a very nice and relaxing trip. With that said, you will need a car and someone that is not afraid of driving.

As you've noticed, there are not many chain hotels in Costa Rica. There are far more independent resorts. If you look at these reviews of the best luxury hotels (http://www.luxurylatinamerica.com/lux_costarica.html) in the country, there are few big corporations in there. It's not a big business destination outside of San Jose. Besides Four Seasons and Marriott, not many chains on the beach or in the jungle.

Having said that, prices are pretty reasonable compared to say, the Caribbean.
