United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Best itinerary for GPU/SWU for NYC-SIN?

I'm taking a trip from New York City to Singapore in late October/early November on United this year and am hoping to use a systemwide upgrade to upgrade to Business First. I'm Premier Gold and am getting a SWU transfered to me by a 1K. There are many options and routings on this itinerary (EWR-HKG, LGA-ORD-HKG, LGA-IAD-NRT, etc). Does anyone have any thoughts on which would give me the best availability for upgrades? I'm using a SWU on one direction and likely miles on the other. Thanks!

EWR-NRT-SIN is far better value for your GPU (formerly known as SWU) than EWR-HKG-SIN, which involves ghetto 738 with domestic F seat. Even if NRT-SIN is operated by older 777 with recliners, you still come out far ahead.

For legagy UA routes, SEA-NRT was always one of the easiest routes for upgrades.
