Interesting.. mine said this "Get up to 20,000 bonus points this summer with your PenFed Premium Travel Rewards American Express® Card–that’s equal to $200 toward your next vacation.

Here’s how it works: Earn 5,000 bonus points in each month from July 2012 through October 2012 that you spend at least $2,500 on your PenFed Premium Travel Rewards Card referenced above.*"

I like yours better...

If you got "preapproved" for this offer, by it showing up both on your online account and when you speak to a rep by phone, I suggest you go for this. The don't do a credit pull for preapprovals. I just accepted mine 3 days ago with 2 of my bureaus locked. I subsequently applied for the visa version and they want me to unlock the bureau for that one.Mine is $650 spend for 20k points.

I think the two posts above yours are referring to recent targeted offers for bonuses for extant accounts NOT the sign-up bonus for new accounts.

I received the 20,000 points for Amex spend July-October and am pleased. Not as good as the 5% cahsback on hotels last year, but I'll take it.

Did anyone get their $100? I spent over $1000 and only got a $25 bonus. Sent them an email already.

I forgot about this...and I did not get the credit. Time to make a call.

Ok, I talked to them and found out I only got a $25 credit because my purchase with Allegiant Air was not VISA-coded as airfare, but as a travel agency. That is total BS and I'm disputing that now. Penfed is saying that the promotion was a VISA promotion, not a Penfed so they can't do anything.

The email came from Pentagon Federal Credit Union, and they advertised it to me, so it seems to me that they are responsible. My purchase was clearly for airfare directly with the airline.

Penfed usually has good CS, but this is ridiculous. I will be writing up a formal complaint and report based on this misleading promotion.
