The $88 cash portion is cheap. That's all the taxes and fuel surcharges add up to?

Redeemed through US/UA award most likely. Any other FFP would get dinged the fuel surcharges as well.

Food will definitely be better than CX.

Recently flew QR in J TRV-DOH-IAH. Food, Wine, Seat/Bed, Service, were all very good. Almost as good as LH first. Haven't flown CX lately, so can not compare. Better than SQ regional J.

I am flying DFW - HOU - DOH - BOM in peak December season and the taxes came out to 5.5$. It completely beats me as to why they are so less. This is an Award Ticket in I (Business Class). I have never paid that less even for a domestic us flight.

The 777 service from JFK/IAD/IAH to DOH are all pretty nice. Within the past year, they are also providing a white seat cover/mattress pad for the chair. I find that putting it on helps make the seat much less lumpy when it is in the bed config. Most people on the flight don't seem to know what to do with it.

The only gripes I'd have are sometimes the cabin temperature is too hot. The blanket seems a little short (and I'm under 6'). There isn't as much personal storage space as you'd like around the seat (though there is almost always plenty of overhead) and when the bed is in the lie flat config, it'd be nice if the armrest towards the aisle were a little higher so you didn't feel like you may fall out.

The new seat config in the 787 looks great. Hopefully those seats will get retrofitted into the 777 or all US flights will be on the 787 and they'll move the 777 to where they are currently flying the old A330.
