Hawaii-based Airlines - HA inter-island baggage limit in F?
Hi everyone,
I will be flying HA next week from HNL to KOA to LIH and back to HNL, all in F class. I understand that there a two-free-bag allowance in F for inter-island flights. However, I could not find out if the weight limit for the free bags is 50lbs or 70lbs. The website is not clear on this point. Does anyone know the answer? Thanks!

Interisland first class checked is 2 bags free up to 50 lbs each.
51-70 lbs costs $25 per bag overweight charge.

Do note that the first row of F on HA not are bulkhead so there's no floor space storage, but the overheads right above the row are blocked for equipment. Choose row 2 if you have carry ons.
Thanks for the hint but too late... I already chose row 1 and row 2 is full on all of our flights. We'll just have to make sure we're the first to board...
Does anyone know if F passengers on inter-island flights get priority boarding (even if they don't have a status with HA)?
Thanks!

Yes the will call first class and elite passengers for pre boarding. You are also able to use their Premier Club Lounges if on a first class ticket.

Which can sometimes be half the plane because everyone and their aunty is usually Pualani or Premier.
Back from Hawaii. Wonderful state, but the experience with HA has been most disappointing. All of my flights were late, but the airline makes no effort to give pax a realistic departure time in the event of delay. Case in point: one one of the flights that ended up being an hour late, the incoming aircraft was estimated to arrive late (say at 5:30 pm) and the estimated departure time was set for 5:35, all this while there were six wheelchairs waiting to board the a/c. Completely unrealistic and it forces passengers to wait in the gate area instead of the lounge. Unlike UA, they board passengers requiring assistance ahead of first class. Given that there are only 8 FC seats in a B717 A/C, they should let FC pax board first, without too much delay in the boarding process.
One one of our flights the bags were not delivered to the final destination but were sent to another island by mistake.
All in all, I would rank HA as follows:
Pilots, FA, and On-Board service: A.
Boarding process: C.
HNL-based operations: C.
Baggage handling: F.
Philippine-based call center: D (the call center should return to the US ASAP). This airline has the potential to be much better than it is.
My sense is that the flight personnel feels happy but the ground personnel feels overworked and cheated upon by management. Unhappy employees=poor service.

That's really unfortunate that you had late flights. I've flown Hawaiian far too many times this year interisland, and I can't recall a single flight that was more than 15 minutes in leaving the gate... and I've been flying peak times. I've been lucky, but HA usually runs a tight ship on on-time interisland ops.
Agree with your assessment re Boarding, in-air service, and the call center.

Recent experience with $50 buy-up from coach at check-in; 2 free bags 59 and 55 lbs, TA was very friendly and said not to worry about weight. TA put on heavy bag tags and we headed to gate. HNL Lounge was like an elementary school cafeteria with a self-serve soda machine, juice cups that are served on the inter-island flights, and the small packaged snack bags. F had pre-board, the flight left on time, arrived on time, and bags were on belt when I arrived at bag claim. I was impressed with the service and with 2 bags to check, a great experience with HA and their F stand-by program.
