Alitalia MilleMiglia - Book KLM from alitalia.com

I noticed that alitalia.com now allows to book KLM segments (under KL flight numbers) as well. So one can mix-n-match KL and AZ flights.
This is a great improvement! I used to need to go to 3rd party TA's to book AZ/KL combined itineraries when the first segment is AZ operated. Its much more preferable when these can be booked through AZ directly.
Does anybody know if these discount coupons that Alitalia offers every now and then apply for such segments as well?

Yes, the coupons will work.
These AF/KL/DL flights have been creeping into the system slowly for almost a year now, it wasn't typically possible to combine them with AZ codes however. In some cases now that's possible, and looks like it's also possible to buy a ticket with outbound in Y and return in J or vice-versa - good^

And I've just booked a FCO-LIN, az coded, at klm.com. Air France didn't retrieve any flight. Maybe it's an AZ-KL integration - at least so far.

I can definitely say that at least some do not work. The recent 20% off all flights with AZ -- I booked a trip using it and all itineraries involving an AF-coded or KL-coded flight led to an error at the end of the booking process. Only the itinerary with pure AZ flight numbers worked at fine. I tried multiple routings and flights so it wasn't just a case of mistaken availability indication.

Then the tickets probably wouldn't have worked even without putting in the code. Codes are never refused after the passenger details page.

It was not a refused code message. The code was accepted and applied to the price calculation but after completing every step AZ website would give a general failure ("cannot be completed") message. All I can say is that it is not a problem of availability. I tried multiple origins, multiple dates, and more or less all AF and KL routings offered (background. Was trying to fly xxx-Chicago and the AZ itinerary implied two stops from any of my preferred departures on all dates so was keen to fly AF or KL instead). I also checked on all my availability websites and on expedia where all routings I was looking at could be confirmed. My personal best guess is that this was a coupon issue (and it worked fine for the all AZ routing) simply because AZ would need to pay the full price to AF or KL while pocketing 20% less.

May be, but did you try booking any of those tickets without the codes? It may be that the system just didn't know how to book them, as it is a relatively new thing to be offering AF/KL/DL flights on the AZ website.
Note also that I think certainly for transatlantic flights profits are shared so a 10 or 20% discount wouldn't come of AZ's account but off all four airlines, due to the JV. On other flights AZ is selling AF/KL tickets at very high prices, so there would be no problem there either.

Actually, I'm not sure. The ticket price still shows as the full price (without the discount) even though I was only charged 80% of it, so I think that for JV accountancy purposes, the ticket price retained is that one, and the discount is offered by AZ as 'travel agent' rather than from the ticket itself (a bit like when opodo offers you a €50 voucher off any ticket following a customer issue. The discount is taken off the price you pay but for accountancy purposes, opodo is still paying the full ticket price to the airline) so in that case it would make a difference.
And to answer your other question, no, I didn't. It being 20% off weekend, I was not tempted to book a full price business class ticket to answer a theoretical question. Happy to volunteer if FT sponsors a ticket under the new promotion though! ;)

Its seems 15% discount is indeed offered now. Im tempted to book an itinerary with KL segments to see if this works..
@orbitmic you mentioned 20% but I assume you mean 15%?

There was a 20% discount offer some time ago, this weekend it is 15%.

Ah I see :)
Well I decided on an itinerary AMS-ATH (KL1575) and back (KL1576) in september. It accepts the discount code, and then after filling out the passenger details:
Siamo spiacenti, si è verificato un errore durante la prenotazione del tuo volo. Una o più tratte non sono diponibili nella classe selezionata.
Needless to say, these flights are available and bookable through klm.com (Same class and same pre-coupon price).
I also tried using a mixed AZ KL, by changing the return flight to a stopover in FCO. Same result. Only when I use only AZ segments the booking succeeds. That really is too bad.

I was hoping you would prove me wrong and would have more luck than me. Same result today with the 15% for me too as a few weeks ago with the 20%. :(

remains to be seen whether the flights are bookable without codes, then. I assumed if the code was accepted then the booking would be a success.
