Middle East - Bahrain eVisa

I am a US citizen going to Bahrain on the 28th of June to attend my sister's wedding. I had applied for an eVisa last year and was approved for it within 72 hours. However this time around it's been more than 3 days and the visa is still being processed. Since I'm leaving next week, I'm in panic mode here. Has anyone else applied for an eVisa recently and faced these delays? Is it better to just go to the New York Consulate and get a visa there? How long does the Consulate take?
Thank you

Can you not get a visa on arrival? Last time I was there, you just gave BHD 5 (about USD 14), if I remember correctly, to the immigration agent. has this changed? I hope not, since I'm going there next week!

I believe you still can but I have been reading about long wait times (up to 2 hours) by immigration before they grant one. I'm going with my family so didn't want to risk that. By the way I just got approved today for the eVisa... :)

Used to be an easy process to get one on arrival, now they take your passport and you have to wait. Couple of weeks ago I waited about an hour after arriving at midnight. Only about ten people waiting with me.

Thanks for the tip. I will see if I can get the e-visa by Thursday.
